"Tender Is The Night" as written by and Sammy/webster Fain....
Between the darkness on the street
And the houses filling up with light
Between the stillness in my heart
And the roar of the approaching night
Somebody's calling after somebody
Somebody turns the corner out of sight
Looking for somebody
Somewhere in the night
Tender is the night
Tender, when you hold your baby tight
Tender, tender are the motions, tender is the night
Between a life that we expected
And the way it's always been
I can't walk back in again
After the way we fight
When just outside there are people laughing
Living lives we used to lead
Chasing down the love they need
Somewhere in the night
Tender is the night
Tender, and the benediction of the neon light
Tender, tender are the hunters, tender is the night
You're gonna want me tonight
When you're ready to surrender
Forget about who's right
When you're ready to remember
It's another world at night
When you're ready to be tender
Tender, tender tender
Tender, tender tender

And in the hard light of an angry sun
No one remembers what was said or done
Tender are the words they choose
You win, I win, we lose
Tender is the night
The benediction of the neon light
Tender are the hunters
Tender is the night
When they hold each other tight
Tender are the undercover
The stranger and the secret lover
Tender are the motions
Tender is the night
When you hold your baby tight
Tender, tender, tender
Tender, tender, tender

General CommentThis song made me think of a rule I heard girls should follow--if a guy asks you out on a Friday, it's because he has been distracted by his work only to realize there are 2 days in a row (the weekend) where he'll have no where to be. A guy like that knows "it's another world at night." I'd say wait for a guy who ask you out on Tuesday, say. Then you know they are thinking of you all week, not just when they're lonely. Unless of course you only think of them when you're lonely, in which case, "you win, I win, we lose." It's just really sad that people aren't taught how to get along and really extend themselves outside of how it suits their own wants. That's what causes loneliness--the "what's in it for me" attitude towards relationships. It doesn't have to be that way.

General CommentI see what Felicity is referring to - it's all down to the fact that sex is all in the mind for girls, all in the groin for the guys!! Guys want release, girls want a guy for life. Us guys need the same as the girls, but never realise it

General CommentI always loves the line "Tender are the hunters." I know it's referring to those who are seeking love and relationships, but being an actual hunter, I love the use of the word tender to describe what I do. I'm not out there to kill cute little animals. I know this has nothing to do with the song, but thanks for listening to me.

General CommentI read this song as the difference between ideal love and real love - the daytime represents perfection and the ideal, what we're always told love is by unrealistic songs and stories love should be, whereas the night is the time the couple can drop that and just be themselves, and forget about the fights they have during the day.

General CommentI believe this song is about how all relationships revolve around what happens at night time...for instance he describes the
"stillness in my heart and the roar of the approaching night"
showing its day time now and there is stillness, but there is a roar approaching..the night. People brake up and make up at night
"Somebody turns the corner out of sight"
"When you hold your baby tight"

Also there is a sense of nostalgia in this song as jackson remenisces about the love he and his partner used to have
"When just outside there are people laughing
Living lives we used to lead"

one of my favourite songs by him.
