I called in sick for work
The fever's getting worse
There's a lot of that going around
I packed a duffle bag
With some clothes from the attic
It's getting colder in the evenings
I hocked my pocket watch
And a couple old guitars
I could hardly stand to play them
I drew all my savings out
Closed my bank account
And stuck the money in the glove box

I drove away on Monday
I couldn't say where I was going to
it was just something I had to do
I was bored of it by Thursday
Driving aimlessly down aimless interstates
Searching for cues
Yeah, for you

And I don't know where you are
I guess I haven't looked too hard
I think I'm afraid I might find you
Is it special where you are?
A Xanadu or Shangri La?
Is it anything like Omaha?

I called in sick on Monday
I was already off the next couple of days
Same bullshit escape
I was back to work on Thursday
Yeah, the fever's gone, I think I've got it beat
That fever bit me, yeah, it bit me

But I've been sleeping
And taking things
I think I've got it beat

And I don't know where you are
I bet I'll never find you out
There's a lot of that going around

General CommentI really love the lyrics and the melody to this song. For some reason, I find it soothing... parts at least.

General Commentif you listen to Cursive/The Good Life and Bright Eyes you can catch a lot of references between them because they were friends growing up. some of them are really blunt like when Conor says in Nothing Gets Crossed Out "Tim I heard your album and it's better than good. When you get off tour I think we should hang and black out together." but there are other subtle ones like in this song it's my best guess that when Tim talks about fevers he's linking up to Fevers and Mirrors and especially the explination of the symbolism of a fever off of it.

General CommentIt might really be "cues," but "ewes" is so much more interesting metaphorically. When I sing along with this song, I will sing ewes.
