"Use Me" as written by Douglas Elwin Erickson, Shirley Ann Manson, Steve W. Marker and Bryan David Vig....
Use me, I'm beautiful
Take me, I'm yours
Hurt me, it feels like medicine
And all I deserve

People have funny things
Swimming inside
They swing like pendulums
They turn like the tides

Darling, I don't need money
I could be happy
With someone to love

Oh, what a crazy time
I've been a fool
On a wild ride to oblivion
I lost my mind

But with you it's understood
You make me feel strong
Your arms look so powerful
When they hold me down

Darling, I don't need money
I could be happy
With someone to love

Everyone looks dangerous
And no one keeps their promises
And I am always running
And you have your dark places

Regretting, feeling
Remembering something

We never said
(Regretting)
We wish, we said
(Something)

We should have said
(Regretting)
We could've said
(Something)

Truly, I don't need money
Or strangers to love me
No diamonds and pearls
Or fast cars designed for the rock stars

I could be happy
With someone to trust
Someone to love, someone to trust

Use me, I'm beautiful
Take me, I'm yours

My InterpretationHonestly, people? Being used isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just that being used by someone who doesn't love you certainly can be. If you're not into it, it's bad. If you're into it and it's properly done, it's amazing.

This song can be taken in one of two ways: The pessimistic, "bad used", or the fetishistic/kinky/BDSM "good used".

I'm really much more inclined to take it the second way. For anybody at all involved with D/S, this resonates rather strongly. For some people, all they really want is to be loved and needed; everything they need can be found in interactions with one person, fulfilling everything.

candyG - either you're not a submissive, or you've never had a good experience being used.

General CommentI LOVE ME SOME GARBAGE!!! One of the best bands ever... Also, this song is totally amazing. In many ways, it reminds me of my very own situation when it comes to love. I'm desperately craving it... And I'm a 17-year-old lesbian, which is still sorta closeted. So, yeah... Guess she's out there, waiting for me. Somehow, sometime, somewhere...

"Use me. I'm beautiful. Take me. I'm YOURS!!"

General CommentArgh people like the first person to comment here frustrate me. She is NOT sick of being used, why would you get that impression? Being used is good, it's hot and she likes it sometimes.

General CommentWow, I'm surprised that no one has commented on this amazing song yet. I think this song is about ending a distructive relationship. Even though she asks to be used, you can tell she is sick of being walked all over by this mystery lover. This song, even though it is about having the courage to pick up and leave a bad relationship, even if it means loosing everything you have, is still really sad. The abuse in the relationship makes it so she doesn't trust anyone, and thinks that everyone will be the same as this guy. Poor poor girl (Or should I say Shirly?).

General CommentThis song is without a doubt on the the best songs by Garbage. The song is self explanitory, however the views mentioned are unusual. What I mean to say is that most women today are caught up with materialistic things, but in this song, Shirley mentions that she doesn't need that. All she wants is someone strong, and someone to love. In addition, I think she is also talking about the previous mistakes of a past relationship.

Above all Garbage is the best group ever!!!!!

General Commentthis is the anthem for all those sad little girls w/ low self-esteem that only wanted someone to like them, but instead they wound up as little whores, tell me i'm wrong.

oh and spamuell, shut up, being used sucks ass, its enjoyable only while its happening, but the afterglow can be really damaging, so think next time before you post something as ignorant as that
