"Sunshine Superman" as written by and Donovan Leitch....
Sunshine came softly through my a-window today
Could've tripped out easy a-but I've a-changed my ways
It'll take time, I know it but in a while
You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style
'Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine

I'll tell you right now
Any trick in the book now, baby, all that I can find
Everybody's hustlin' just to have a little scene
When I say we'll be cool I think that you know what I mean
We stood on a beach at sunset, do you remember when?
I know a beach where, baby, a-it never ends
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine

Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
I'll pick up your hand and slowly blow your little mind
'Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine
I'll tell you right now
Any trick in the book now, baby, all that I can find

Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me
I can make like a turtle and dive for your pearls in the sea, yeah
A you-you-you can just sit there a-thinking on your velvet throne
'Bout all the rainbows a-you can a-have for your own
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine
I'll pick up your hand and slowly blow your little mind
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine

I'll pick up your hand
I'll pick up your hand

General CommentDonovan has put his acid tripping aside in order to get himself together and woo some hard-to-befriend person or persons. Since reportedly, he's in India with the Maharishi and the Beatles, and the song was reportedly dedicated to John and Paul, my guess is that's who he wants to impress and draw in.
The over-confident chest-beating that follows is tongue-in-cheek - He's actually admitting he's star-struck, bedazzled, and not in their league (but probably should have been).

General Commentcant believe nobody has commented on this yet!

Reeks of pure cool, just makes me wanna whack on a pair of dark glasses and lean my head back - male model style!

it seems to me like hes working up the courage and confidence to ask a chick out.

General Commentthis song doesnt get near enough attention. If donovan was a beatle he would have been right up there with John and Paul if not higher

General CommentFirst real Psychedelic song of note. He should have gotten more publicity from it, but for legal reasons it wasn't released on time. The first lines of this song just hit you like a magic bus.

General CommentThere's clearly reference to tripping on acid. That's what the first two lines are saying. "Sunshine" meaning liquid sunshine, what acid is sometimes called. Of course, in the next line, he say's "could've tripped out easy." No need to explain.
