"Ghost Of David" as written by and Damien Jurado....
I've seen you walk desert highways
Come on out, they're waiting for you
Mother lost her one and only
Fear the worst, for dead are many

Man, I had seen the ghost of David
In the house of his childhood
Forget him not, still he loves you
Life is short but love's eternal

Come on out, we're waiting for you

The song is reportedly about a dream he had about David Bazan of Pedro the Lion, a good friend of his, and Anna is David's wife. This would make more sense, since the following words are "forget him not, he still loves you/Life is short but love's eternal."

General CommentI'd read that this song is about David Bazan, but I also read it was to/about/for David Bazan's mother; not his wife. So I always thought the line was "And I've seen the ghost of David..."
