all of this
filthy hatred
is going to end
i'll bring it downstairs
and tuck it away
under the floorboards.

hello to you
sweet stormbreaker
hold my hand
spill some sunshine my way
some sunshine on me.

stumble around
on liquid nitrate
and lithium
you scratch your arm and say
"i don't want to live this way."

i hold your ghost
in the shadow
i kiss its wrist
tell it that everythings great
that things will change.

thank you for being gentle
when things got rough
and sometimes violent
i've never felt this healthy
and well-read.

when you broke my legs
it was special
i knew the pain
like a sister
and i forgave you both
for being mislead.

back and forth again and again
i don't know where to begin
so i guess i'll start again.

we are on the same page
you are on my map
we are on the same path
and i'm not going to be
the same person that i was
when i was dead.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
