So I'm just a medicine
You take when you're sick
You get well and that's it
I'm put back
On the shelf in your mirror
And it isn't exeptional
The course of our fate
Because people love and they hate
And I guess
It's just all turned to hate
Yeah, you were just some song I wrote
A poem on a page
A sculpture I made
Out of clay
Desire was the flame
But now you're more of a basketball
Boys just pass you around
They bounce you hard on the ground
And dribble
Then we all get high fives
And you think I'm an asshole now
Well, you're probably right
But at least I'm not blind to the facts
I've been wishing were all lies
But still, I hope you get everything
That you care to possess
And unbelievable sex
With him
Or any one of my friends
But just don't ask about my appetite
I didn't lose it tonight
It's been gone half my life
It's just, I
I've been eating for you

    Song Meaning

I think some of you have misinterpretted the eating disorder thing. Its not an intentional thing, I think he wishes he could eat but he just never gets hungry. Ive had the same problem as him since I was young. Some one who is depressed or uses a lot of drugs eventually just loses their appetite completely after a while. For a long time I couldnt eat more than half a meal a day, or else i would start feeling really sick. I think that in this song hes dealing with the same thing, but conor wants to start eating so this girl will think he is happy and healthy. I think maybe some of you have been thinking hes not eating because of annorexia, but its really just an appetite thing.

I also agree with other meanings for the end.... who knows Cocaine and how he's been off it since being with ehr so he's still eating = still staying clean or what i said above or That regardless of the cocaine she would have to remind him and ask him to eat something because of depression or whatever else and he is maintaining a healthier eating pattern despite their break up and because he knows that she would want him to or whatever

hey.. does anyone else notice a reference to eating disorders in some of conor's songs? like this and 'neely o'hara'. i've seen it in a few other songs i've failed to remember the titles of. and the cover art to "every day and every night". hate to mention it, but even the desaparecidos song 'what's new for fall' says "i shouldn't eat so much." hm. even so. the songs are great. if you can write and sing and play, you're good to go.

this has to be one of my favorite bright eyes songs. it hits every memory and feeling ive experienced. it goes from feeling used to denial/wishful thinking to feeling bitter and then finally acceptance.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
