All the summer days
Where we used to play
Walking hand in hand
Castles in the sand
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry
From the madding crowd
Pointing up at clouds
Summer turned to fall
Pictures on the wall
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry
Where we used to play
Walking hand in hand
Castles in the sand
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry
From the madding crowd
Pointing up at clouds
Summer turned to fall
Pictures on the wall
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry
So you said "Goodnight"
But you meant "Goodbye"
Now our love has died
This is why I cry, cry

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

no comments!?> this song is AMAZING. reminds me of the adventures of pete and pete, as this aired during the credits of the episode farewell my little viking.
Beautiful song. Makes me wanna cry. lol. I miss pete&pete more and more when i hear this!!! :c
yeah, "the flowers she sent and the flowers she said she sent" is in "what we did on our summer vacation" and "lovers from the moon" is in "valentine's day massacre".
pretty straightforward song about remembering a relationship and missing the person you were with and what you shared with them. so sad and beautiful.
I thought the first two lines of the chorus went:
"so you said good-bye, But you meant good lie"
Somehow that stuck me harder. But his lines are amazing of course, as always.
what's pete and pete again?
