"Souvenir" as written by and Billy Joel....
A picture postcard
A folded stub
A program of the play
File away your photographs
Of your holiday

And your mementos
Will turn to dust
But that's the price you pay
For every year's a souvenir
That slowly fades away
Every year's a souvenir
That slowly fades away

General CommentCome on, this song is an untouched Gem. I can't believe that no one else has left a comment. Well anywho, I think that the meaning is simple. The years go by fast and soon they become nothing more than memories. I just couldn't stand seeing no comments on this one.

General Comment"Souvenir" means memory in French, probably a deliberate pun here, talking of the fading of memories.

A beautiful melody. One of the great things about all of Joel's music is that it's great poetry, as well as great music. Brilliant stuff.
