"All For Leyna" as written by and Billy Joel....
She stood on the tracks
Waving her arms
Leading me to that third rail, SHOCK
Quick as a wink
She changed her mind

She gave me a night
That?s all it was
What will it take until I STOP
Kidding myself, wasting my time, whoa

There?s nothing else I can do
?Cause I?m doing it All For Leyna
I don?t want anyone new
?Cause I?m living it All For Leyna
There?s nothing in it for you
?Cause I?m giving it all to Leyna

We laid on the beach
Watching the tide
She didn?t tell me there were, ROCKS
Under the waves
Right off the shore

Washed up on the sand
Barely alive
Wishing the undertow would, STOP
How can a man take anymore, whoa

There?s nothing else I can do
?Cause I?m doing it All For Leyna
I don?t want anyone new
?Cause I?m living it All For Leyna
There?s nothing in it for you
?Cause I?m giving it all to Leyna

I?m failing in school
Loosing my friends
Making my family loose their minds
I don?t want to eat
I don?t want to sleep
I only want Leyna, one more time

Now, I?m in my room
Watching the tube
Telling myself, she still may, DROP
Over to say, she?s changed her mind

So, I wait in the dark
Listening for her
Instead of hearing my old man saying, STOP
Kidding yourself, wasting your time

There?s nothing else I can do
?Cause I?m doing it All For Leyna
I don?t want anyone new
?Cause I?m living it All For Leyna
There?s nothing in it for you
?Cause I?m giving it all to Leyna

General CommentGreat song about a lonely guy who has a one night stand (She gave me a night, that's all it was) and can't let the girl go, even though she wants nothing to do with him. Together with "Sleeping with the Television on" and "Don't Want to Be Alone Anymore", creates a great trio of songs regarding the troubles with dating and loneliness.

General CommentOnce upon a time, to someone, I WAS Leyna. Didn't intend to ruin my loved one's life, and yet I did. He stopped going to his college classes and blew his scholarship just to follow me around. I couldn't go anywhere without seeing him lurking around my car, my apartment, my workplace. My neighbors actually called the cops on him because they thought he was a peeping tom. Although I loved him, he began to frighten me, and the harder he tried to cling to me, the more desperate I became to get away.

It is possible to be stalked by somebody while you are in a relationship with them...

General Commentthis is my favorite Billy Joel song. It was first introduced to me in the context of losing someone to suicide, so that's what this song has always meant to me. "Leyna" was self-destructive and eventually took her own life.

General CommentThe guy in this song just can't shake the desire for this girl, with whom he obviously had an amazing one night stand. We've all been in love - and lust - like this and it can take over your life, but you learn as you mature to let things go. He's a young guy, obviously (since he mentions failing in school) and that makes it more believable to me. I'm also impressed that Billy was in touch with those emotions to write from that perspective when he was 30. Perhaps it was recalling an obsession of his own, or just relating to the feeling that many young men have experienced. It's a great song lyrically as well as musically.

General CommentTo me, this is one of the best lyrics out there about obsessing over some chick. I love the undertow inference - it keeps pulling you back.

General Comment This damn obsession. You know its unhealthy, you know you're being treated like crap, but all this is almost a subconcious thing. All you're really sure about is the enveloping feeling of love that nothing can destroy. its a pain. I pity anyone in this situation. Poor suckers scrwed over.

General CommentAll the above of course, but one day, listening to this song after many years knowing it, I couldn't believe my ears when Billy Joel began to sing "Awful Leyna". I put it on again, shaking my head in true disbelief. Can't be after all these years, but yes, , he keeps on saying it: "Awful, awful Leyna." I suppose he was in head before Michael Jackson deplored his Dirty Diana. I keep my awful Leyna anyway. And if you find out I am true, please remember I told you so first.

My OpinionI think as guys we've all been there at one time or another. A woman shows you some attention and you misinterpret it and it turns to obsession. Its almost like an addiction that the only way you break it is going cold turkey...or a restraining order!
