He knows he'll be alone tonight
While contemplating, 'What can I do?'
Lack of hope leaves him feeling violent
Its not that he's looking for a fight, it's just...
He don't know where to turn

More stress than help, from home and school
And on the streets his life's out of control...

Chorus
Angry Young and Poor
Angry Young and Pissed
Angry and no one cares

She never even had a chance
Mental, sexual, physical violence
Not once she heard an encouraging word
Just the phase, 'You better shut up!' and, 'You're going no where!'

Her sad stories, all left untold
And so her life became something, so out of control...

Chorus
Angry Young and Poor
Angry Young and Pissed
Angry and no one cares
Don't know where to turn
Don't know what to do...

Politicians talk it up, about their love, for the USA's youth
But when it comes time to put up, their rhetoric falls back on every excuse
Every excuse, every excuse...

Chorus

punk in drublic says... the only difference I see is the captalization????? and what does that matter anyway? Anyway, this song, to me, is about the government's lack of support for teens who are in trouble.. they say they want to help, but when they get into office they start raising taxes and not accomplishing what they've promised.

"Politicians talk it up, about their love, for the USA's youth"..but then it is just ignored, and things like this happen, so why does the government bother? There is no reason for the government of america to say this and then do nothing about it. this song is wicked.

this song is about a guy and a girl who live street lives and cant afford very much and how everyone always puts them down and how they grew up fighting and not owning much, its about how they dont get the appretiation they deserve. its about nobody caring that they are poor and need help wiht a "better them than me" attitude they consider themselves higher people (wealthy people)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
