"The Lemon Song" as written by and Plant Page....
I should have quit you long time ago
Ohh yeah, long time ago
I wouldn't be here, my children
Down on this killin' floor

I should have listened, baby, to my second mind
Ohh, I should have listened, baby, to my second mind
Every time I go away and leave you, darling
You send me the blues way down the line, ohh

Babe, yeah
Treat me right baby
Oh my, my, my
Alright, take it down a bit
People tellin' me baby can't be satisfied
They try to worry me baby
But they never hurt you in my eyes
Said, people worry baby, I can't keep you satisfied

Huh, let me tell you baby
You ain't nothin' but a two-bit, no-good jive
I wwent to sleep last night, I worked as hard as I can
I bring home my money, you take my money, give it to another man
I should have quit you, baby
Oh, such a long time ago
I wouldn't be here with all my troubles
Down on this killing floor

Squeeze me baby, 'till the juice runs down my leg
Squeeze me baby, 'till the juice runs down my leg
The way you squeeze my lemon, I
I'm gonna fall right out of bed, bed, bed, bed, yeah

Hey
Hey
Hey
Hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, you
Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby
Hey, babe, hey, babe, babe

I'm gonna leave my children down on this killin' floor

The way you squeeze my lemon, I'm gonna fall right out of bed."

    The above speaks for itself!

"I'm gonna leave my children down on this killing floor."

And I think here Plant might be talking about shooting his future-children onto the floor once he's fallen out of bed. ;P

pretty lude analysis, pretty nice song.

This part is vintage Robert Johnson. The rest is "Killing Floor" which I think was written by Willie Dixon for Howlin' Wolf, but I might be wrong about that part. Either way, although I love Zep, it's too bad they still get credit for songs the old blues musicians wrote. Always go back and check out the originals...Zep did!

General CommentYou guys are morrons, Led Zeppelin was great don't get me wrong but they ripped off alot of the black blues. Robert Johnson wrote travelling riverside blues, not zeppelin so dont say how good their lyrics are, alot of their songs are from the old blues, Jimmy Page was good at putting them to a rock beat. learn the roots of the music, and don't be so ingnorant

General CommentThis song is pure sex. I thought it didn´t need any explanation until I saw captaininsanity´s comment. Their children are his SPERM, read it again. Its not only evident by the lyrics, its a common theme in 60's-70's blues and rock, sex and evil foxy women.

Led Zeppelin has many songs like that: Dazed 'n confused, Black Dog, Whole lotta love... as well as all the great old bands : Strange kind of woman (Deep Purple), Foxy Lady (Hendrix), Layla (Clapton), Hard days night (do I really need to tell you?)...

The reason: they all began playing blues.

Somebody said we were ignorant morrons as we worshiped Led Zeppelin for this song, and it is a Willie Dixon song.

I´m gonna tell you something: I play blues, I know what I´m talking about. Blues is about covering, but when a bluesman covers a song he plays it completely in his style, we don´t learn the phrases. And Led Zeppelin´s Lemon Song is competely different to any other, it is almost their song.

General Comment"I think Robert Plant would have used the word penis if he’d meant a penis."
I don't. It would have caused outrage. "Squeeze my penis"? Way too explicit.

General CommentAll four members really showcase their talents in this song. The original "Killing Floor" was about a guy moaning that he didn't take off with another woman who came up to see him from Mexico, and now he is stuck in a relationship he can't get out of. "The Lemon Song" is obviously about not being able to leave a destructive woman, perhaps due to the great sex she provides. I never thought that the "children" were sperm and the woman was a prostitute, I assumed it was a man with an unfaithful wife, but the former also makes sense to me.
