"The Hardest Part" as written by and Lawrence / Zubia....
Twenty five tons of hardened steel rolls on no ordinary wheel
Inside the armored car ride two big armed guards
In a bullet-proof vest, shatterproof glass, overdrive, we're gonna pass
Twenty five tons of hardened steel rolls on no ordinary wheel
The hardest part of the armored guard
Big man of steel behind the steering wheel

Nitro and acetylene open la machine
No short heist, no overnight, big money take you to Brazil
Bullet-proof vest, shatterproof glass, overdrive, we're gonna pass
Time bomb, greasy mob, count down, hurry up, come on

The hardest part of the armored guard
Big man of steel behind the steering wheel

In a wire mesh cage with a twelve gauge. Radio, we're coming fast
Ooh, I need to feel some hardened steel, deliver the big money deal

Of the armored guard here's what I heard
I'll tell you that he will no matter what you feel
The hardest part of the armored guard
Big man of steel behind the steering wheel

Twenty five tons of hardened steel deliver the big money deal

General CommentI have to say that this one is my least favourite blondie tune...I have no idea what it's about, however.

General CommentI think of the Hemingway story "the Killers," when I listen to this song.
The lyrics about the armored car robbery might be a metaphor about sex. She's trying to seduce this dude that she's calling the "armored guard," and the big money deal is the orgasm that she's hoping for.

General CommentI LOVE this song. Yes, it's about an armed robbery but there is another level to it - the "hardest part", "coming fast" and "needing some hardened steel" - doesn't take much imagination to fugure out what that's about. Blondie were fond of putting dirty jokes in their songs from time to time. Cool song, and a proper rocker.

General CommentThis is actually one of my favorite songs! It's so fun to sing along with like in the car or something...it always reminds me of these scenes I see in movies about New York crime life during the 80's
