To see the fault of unrequited love
There is no truth, there is no purity, there is no love

Flesh is the weakness, flesh is the fault
We are embodiment of all the world's wrongs
No time to look back, we are gone
No time to regret the seeds we've thrown away

Man is the parasite, man is the cause
We are destroyers and creators, our precious flaw
We are the architects of fate
We are impure, for we burn all we berate

We are but flesh and flesh is the weakness
We are born of blood, sinew, and bone
We're all just spinning in this useless hole in time
On our way into the black unknown

Man is the parasite, man is the cause
We are destroyers and creators, our precious flaw

Flesh is the weakness, flesh is the fault
We are embodiment of all the world's wrongs
No time to look back, we are gone
No time to regret the seeds we've thrown away

We are but flesh and flesh is the weakness
We are born of blood, sinew, and bone
We're all just spinning in this useless hole in time
On our way into the black unknown

I am but flesh, and flesh is weak
I am but flesh, and flesh is weak

General CommentSimple and straightforward. Man is imperfect. Our own flaws will be our undoing.

General CommentYes, but there are also biblical references which fit in with the theme of the entire album. The idea that man is 'fallen' from God and therefore imperfect, that we follow our fleshly desires instead of following God's path. The idea is that God's 'love' for mankind is unrequited, just like Warrel's love for the woman in 'Dreaming Neon Black', 'Forever' and other songs.

General CommentI'm sorry, Ad Nauseam, but Warrel Dayne is NOT trying to say that god loves us.... hahaha I find it funny you would even mention that. Do you think that if you bow to an invisible god your whole life that you will float around in the clouds with jesus for all eternity? It's the biggest conspiracy ever concieved, unfortunately, most cannot see it.

General CommentUnfortunately, Brian, this song can be relevant to someone with a religious viewpoint. Ahh, the beauty of interpretation.

We can most definitely be fallen from God and God's path if he exists. The context of Ad Nauseam's interpretation is that if he were to exist then we have fallen from him, but we are fallen regardless.

Listen to some other Nevermore songs. Humankind is failing and the question of God's existence pops up everywhere. "Can we agree to disagree on the concept of God?" We most definitely can and do. It's just one more of our flaws that will be our undoing.

General CommentGod is just a image made in peoples mind so they have something to hope for and that there is something after this life, sad as it is we all are going to die and that will be the end of us, so people can believe what they will but there will be no afterlife and not even a regret of wishing there was for the matter. so life for this life and for the moments you get in them because once your time comes it will all be lost...

Lyric Correction"Useless hole in time" or "Useless holy time"?
I hear the second. Either would be interesting.
