"You Never Know" as written by and Morgan/matthews....
Sitting still as stone watching, watching
People walking by you wondering why
No one ever stops to talk or thinks about it, if they ever did
What if God shuffled by?

One day we might see
Doing not a thing
Breathing just to breathe
We might find some reason

But rushing around seems what's wrong with the world
Don't lose the dreams inside your head
They'll only be there til you're dead
Dream

Lying on the roof counting
The stars that fill the sky I wonder if
Someone in the heavens looking back down on me,
I'll never know
So much space to believe

Funny when you're small
The moon follows the car
There's no one but you see
Hey, the moon is chasing me

I worried if I looked away she'd be gone
Don't lose the dreams inside your head
They'll only be there til you're dead
Dream

Walking through the wood
No cares in the world
The world has come to play
She's all mine just for a day

There's not a moment to lose in the game
Don't let the troubles in your head
Steal too much time you'll soon be dead
So play

All fall down
It won't be so long now
Out of the darkness comes light like a flash
You think you can you think you can
Sometimes that is the problem
Dream little darling dream

Spinning on the wind
The leaf fell from the limb

But everyday should be a good day to die
Oh all fall down
It won't be too long now
Every fire dies
I find it hard to explain how I got here
I think I can I think I can
Then again I will falter
Dream little darling dream

Spinning on the wind
The leaf fell from the limb

General CommentThis song really does rock. This is just a sample of how good Busted Stuff will be. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this new album!

General CommentThis will be the best song on Busted Stuff. I just got back from the show tonight. It was awesome. Over both nights they played about every song that is going to be on the new album. This is some of the best music Dave has written. I can't wait until the cd comes out.

General Commenthmmmm meanings.... maybe Dave continuing his series of songs questioning how things have turned out in the world (spotlight, proudest monkey, monkey man). although the lyrics are amazing like always, what really makes me crazy is the complicated time in this song. the 3/8 with carter's duples going into the 5 is just insane. goes to show how dave has evolved as a songwriter.

General CommentThis song's sound is extreamly powereful. Like Grey Street i almost get chills at the "think i can..." part. I believe it's vaguly about holding onto your dreams and even though you may get old and your life is differant than you imagined, you should still aspire to your dreams.

General CommentIt's been a long time since Dave's written a song as powerful and as moving as "You Never Know." When the band debuted this song in April, it was already an incredible piece of music. I can't wait to see how this song - like all Dave songs - develops over the course of touring... I can't imagine it being any better than it already is!! "You Never Know" and "Grace is Gone" will definitely be the highlights of Busted Stuff.

General Commentfinally hearing the studio version of this song is a blessing. Since hearing it in concert, ive been waiting to hear a great studio version, and dave has certainly brought it together for this great masterpiece.

"you never know" follows the 'self reflection' themes of many of dmb's songs. great lyrics, great beat, just a overwhelmingly great song. Let the love flow!

General CommentI love this song... the lyrics are absolutely great. I was at the show that he first played it, and I was so excited that I was one of the first to hear it, because he'd never played it before. I think it's beautiful, and I love his new album, it rocks so much! I'll be seeing him three more times in concert next week, and I can't wait! Hopefully he'll play this once (I'm sure he will)!
