"Joyride" as written by and Kristen Barry....
Saturday I jotted some words I thought
All about a girl that I thought I loved
Told the story of what we did and what went wrong
You've heard it all before it's the same old shit

So I won't bore you with all the details
I'm sure you can listen between the lines
I screwed her and she screwed me
But we never once has sex
All we ever have is too much time

Love is just a joyride
Drink a lot of beer and climb inside
Lay your foot down on the gas
Leave it there until you crash

Love is just a joyride
Drink a lot of beer and climb inside
Lay your foot down on the gas
Leave it there until you crash

This part of the song is called the second verse
Sounds just like the first but with different words
It only has three chords and they are A and E and D
They are A and E and D
Then it goes to D minor, D, uh, A, E, D

Love is just a joyride
Drink a lot of beer and climb inside
Lay your foot down on the gas
Leave it there until you crash

Love is just a joyride
Drink a lot of beer and climb inside
Lay your foot down on the gas
Leave it there until you crash

    General CommentI do! I do!

This is one of their most straight-forward songs. He's wryly joking about how this is just the typical song about love and how wonderful it seems and then it always ends up in pain. He's saying how it doesn't matter what the details to his story are, because it happens to everyone just slightly differently. It's the same thing again and again in songs. All of them can just be summarized nicely by "love is just a joyride. drink a lot of beer and climb inside. lay your foot down on the gas. leave it there until you crash." brilliant.

General CommentLove is awesome, but even if you live to be 100 and your partner dies, it is eventually going to end. Alot of people get hurt by love and get "wise" thinking that they wont ever allow themselves to feel, so that they wont get hurt like that again.

This song tells people to love fearlessly (not carelessly) and to enjoy the ride before the crash... dont spend so much time worrying about the crash...enjoy the ride.

General Commenti love this song. i think the A, E, D chords are mocking of how old school punk bands used to only use three or four chords in every song. "This is a chord... this is another... this is a third... Now form a band."

General CommentI would like to note that joyrides are a bad idea and never end up well. Perhaps he has the same feelings towards love.

General CommentNo one mentioned the best line in the song, 'I screwed her and she screwed me, we never once had sex'.

This whole song is cynical, and live to the fullest, forget the crap and move on.

    I still like it.
