"Come and Get It" as written by and Paul Mccartney....
If you want it
Here it is,
Come and get it.
Make your mind up fast.

If you want it
Anytime I can give it
But you better hurry
Cause it may not last.

Did I hear you say
That there must be a catch
Will you walk away
From a fool and his money

If you want it,
Here it is,
Come and get it,
But you better hurry
Cause it's going fast.

If you want it
Here it is,
Come and get it,
Make your mind up fast.

If you want it
Anytime I can give it,
But you'd better hurry
Cause it may not last.

Did I hear you say
That there must be a catch
Will you walk away
From a fool and his money

Sonny, if you want it,
Here it is,
Come and get it
But you'd better hurry
Cause it's going fast.
You'd better hurry
Cause it's going fast.

Fool and his money.

Sonny, if you want it,
Here it is,
Come and get it,
But you'd better hurry
Cause it's going fast,
You'd better hurry
Cause it's going fast,
You'd better hurry
Cause it's going fast.

General CommentPaul should have recorded this himself and put it on The Beatles (White Album).. or maybe it was written before then

General CommentI know the recording can be dated 24 Jul 1969. Paul, however, offered this to The Ivey's (later Badfinger) and it top-5'd.

General CommentProbably one of my favorite McCartney songs. Many of his songs seem fragmented and weird. This one always puts a smile on my face though. I wish he would have released it on his own, I think he could have done more with it than Badfinger did.

General CommentPaul recorded a demo of this song (see Anthology 3)
and gave it to the Apple prodigies Badfinger
to record as the theme to "The Magic Christian"
starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr.

General CommentI believe this refers to the ongoing legal battle between the other 3 Beatles/Allen Klein...and McCartney/Lee Eastman.....

    A taunt of sorts ...

General CommentYes, Paul did a great demo of this song (which is included on Anthology 3). I always liked the irony that a big named star like Paul McCartney 'gave' a hit song to a group (Badfinger) and the song had lines like "If you want it, here it is come and get it", and "will you walk away from a fool and his money". Seems like an autobiographical song about itself.

General CommentThat's pretty much beyond-words mind-boggling that Paul McCartney could write so many chart toppings hits that he willingly gave a great one away during the a time in his career where he could have easily made it into a legend himself, instead turning an entire band into a legend...

Anyone ever listen to Badfinger and for a second thought it was the Beatles?

Yes. Their sound has The Beatles written all over it.

General CommentThe song was written by McCartney for a scene in "The Magic Christian" where the crazy millionaire (Peter Sellers) has dumped many thousands of dollars (Pounds?) into a huge vat of raw sewage, and all the average blokes are diving in. It's not about any legal battles.

Badfinger's first album had quite a bit of help from the Beatles. The guitar solo on "Day After Day" sounds every bit like George Harrison - it may have been George.
But writer/singer Pete Ham was a super talent in his own right - "No Matter What", "My Baby Blue", "Day After Day" - the whole album was a pleasure!
