"Suffocate" as written by Steve Diamond, Gary Baker and Brandon Barnes....
I feel nothing
Longing for something
Lie in bed to take your clothes off
Show me what you're made of
Just to soothe me

(All alone)
Leave me here I'm dying
(All alone)
Just kicked me in my face

(All alone)
All alone and crying
(All alone)
I suffocate

I'm not gifted
Slightly twisted
Try hard try hard
To see if I can push you any further
Just to soothe me

(All alone)
Leave me here I'm dying
(All alone)
Just kicked me in my face

(All alone)
All alone and crying
(All alone)
I suffocate

Please believe you'll save me, rearrange me
I can feel your feelings running through me
Take away my sorrow my tomorrow
Heal me

(All alone)
Leave me here I'm dying
(All alone)
Just kicked me in my face

(All alone)
All alone and crying
(All alone)
I suffocate

I'm suffocating
Suffocate (come suffocate)

General Commenti thought this song was about suffocating under pressure of society to be gifted...i guess drugs just soothe the pain...

General CommentOne of the best Staind songs ever. It gets a 5, and i also think the song is about bending under the pressure and expectations of society. AaronLewis of Staind and Scooter Ward of Cold are some of the best lyricist EVER.

General CommentLewis believes his cry for redemption can somehow be answered by another human being. He explores sexual and emotional intimacy: "Lie in bed to take your clothes off Show me what you're made of Just to soothe me... Please believe you'll save me, rearrange me I can feel your feelings running through me Take away my sorrow my tomorrow Heal me." But the chorus shows the futility of seeking, in an earthly source, the healing that only comes from heaven: "Leave me here I'm dying Just kicked me in my face All alone and crying I suffocate."
I got the meanings of this song directly from this website:

It has the meanings of every Staind song ever made through Break The Cycle. As you can see, almost none of his songs are about a bad relationship with his girlfriend but rather his parents' problems while he was growing up. Lewis said they split up and got back together like 7 or 8 times. I can't believe some people actually say divorce is good for the kids. My parents haven't, so I should be somewhat lucky.
Those 5 comments above mine aren't exactly what I would call contributions!

General CommentJust by reading the damn song you can tell it is about a relationship with someone. Not pressure from the society everyone BUT (MegaMadMan) is WRONG!

General CommentTo me it sounds as if he's battling with an addiction that suppresses through the withering of anothers patience. He feels the need to control them to obtain a sense of relief. In doing this he's tearing himself apart, his relationships, as well as the true purpose of his intentions. After all is said and done and there's nothing left for him to manipulate and cling to, he feels shame and disgust in cost of his actions. These natural pain killers only build upon the torment he possesses. In addition, his addiction to the drug won't cease. It's just a battle that can only be conquered in vain. So as he withdraws from all these feelings and actions, he wants and craves the isolation as he becomes completely driven yet closed off as he suffocates. Kind of sick if you think about it. Excellent song...invoking feelings of anger, rage, sadness, and defeat...pure aggression...
