I know I stand in line until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there's a chance
You won't be leaving with me
And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place and have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you"

I can see it in your eyes
That you despise the same old lies you heard the night before
And though it's just a line to you, for me it's true
And never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think I'll wait until the evening gets late and I'm alone with you
The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you"

The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by sayin' something stupid like "I love you"

I love you
I love you
I love you

Actually Frank Sinatra is the one who COVERED this song. It was written by C. Carson Parks and originally recorded in 1966 by Parks and his wife Gaile Foote, as "Carson and Gaile".

I dig this song. The video is super fun. Nicole & Robbie's voices work really well together. I believe this was originally done by Frank and Nancy Sinatra...I may be wrong. I love the words, too; this song is just fun.

The lyrics for this romantic, soft and delightful song were not so classic when Frank Sinatra first sang them. But with Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's own version, they strike the modern ears and are without a doubt one of the most romantic ones ever heard by people since it got released.

Basically, it says: "Oh no, I did it again: I love you!"

This is a really beautiful song. The fact that it was sung by both a male and a female really makes it work all the better. Its about true love of two lovers declaring their love for one another without taking their lover for granted. Its about treasuring each moment of their lives together as each other thinks that they are better than they deserve and for that reason they treasure each other a lot in light of this, afriad to lose each other. The song is so beautiful that it was sung by both male and the female counterpart, as it is like both of them declaring their equally strong love for each other.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is clearly about two lovers, who start with no strings attached, as You can see in the first verse:

"I know I stand in line Until you think You have the time To spend an evening with me And if we go Someplace to dance I know that There's a chance You won't be Leaving with me"

In further lines it occures that even though they didn't want a relationship, they fell in love with each other, but they're to shy to admit it while sober, so as they become braver after the alcohol, they finally say it.

"Then afterwards We drop into A quiet little place And have a drink or two And then I go And spoil it all By saying something stupid Like I love you"

They are stressing over admiting what they feel for each other, cause they are worried that the other person is not feeling the same.

"I can see it in your eyes That you despise The same old lines You heard the night before And though it's Just a line to you For me it's true And never seemed So right before"

They try to find the right words, not to get misunderstood, they try to postpone it.

"I practice every day To find some Clever lines to say To make the meaning Come through But then I think I'll wait until the Evening gets late And I'm alone with you"

They show how everything is perfect, but they're afraid that they're going to spoil the night, by admiting the truth.

"The time is right Your perfume Fills my head The stars get red And oh the night's so blue And then I go And spoil it all By saying something stupid Like I love you"

This song is about being in psychotherapy and falling for your therapist. It's how you think you love someone where you shouldnt, but those things happen naturally in these settings. It's like being one of her clients and waiting in line to get seen, then knowing she's at work and she hears same crap every evening from her other clients. Prepping for therapy and then looking for words to confess and regretting it afterwards. Haha, doubt anyone will agree on this.

Good song, but it's a little strange that Robin Williams sings it. It's not precisely his style.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
