This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom, boom, boom
"Son", he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home"
To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Though my life was in a rut
'Til I thought of what I'll say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom, boom, boom
"Hey", he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home"
(Hey, back home)
When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom, boom, boom
"Hey", I said, "you can keep my things, they've come to take me home"
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice
I did not believe the information

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I could be wrong, but I always thought this song was about Jesus. And I'm not even christian.
Solsbury hill, unless I'm mistaken, is in Rome near Bath.
"Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice"
Voice of God, his father. An eagle being a metaphor for God as a crow is a metaphor of Lucifer.
"I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart going boom-boom-boom"
Couldn't believe he's hearing the voice of God.
"Son, he said, grab your things I've come to take you home Eh, don't quit"
Son = Jesus.
"To keep in silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut "
Which people did think at the beginning.
"Turning water into wine"
What did Jesus do?
Again, I could be wrong. But it's definitely a point of view to think about. I'd be interested in hearing what PG said the song is about, really.

...except that Solsbury Hill is in England-- in fact, Stonehenge is on Solsbury Hill, implying that the narrator is singing from Stonehenge. So that changes the metaphor considerably.
He was using religious metaphor as comparison points, but this song is about leaving Genesis. WELL documented.
Leaving Genesis indeed. Anyone here heard of The Rapture? Lets accept that it's about leaving the band of his youth to pursue a more spiritual path. If that is the case he is clearly drawing a parallel to a common Baptist belief that the second coming will be preceded by a "rapture" or gathering up of the faithful in the sky to join with Jesus before the final battle of Armageddon. Peter here sees that leaving Genesis, perhaps the first book of his life, and moving on by faith is similar in a small way to the big picture meaning of life in which God calls us each by name to come home to Him by faith.
actually Lijemo, a small correction to your correction. Solsbury Hill is indeed in Englang, but Stonehenge is not there. Stonehenge is on the similarly named SALISBURY plain - the Beatles played "I Need You" there in the film Help!
Rome , near Bath ! Bit of a geographical shift of several hundred miles ;-) There are indeed Roman Baths in Bath, from which the Somerset towns name is derived and several roman roads in the area, there the affinity with Rome stops. Bath is still within the shire county of Somerset as is Solsbury Hill. Glastonbury Tor is also in (Avon and) Somerset and is allegedly the site of a visit to England by Joseph of Aramathea and some say he was accompanied by Jesus himself, as per the lyrics of the Hymn "Jerusalem" , "......and did those feet in ancient times ,walk upon Englands Mountains green". The Thorn that grows on Glastonbury is one of only a few examples of that species in the UK, one other growing wild exists in Cornwall where they supposedly landed, both are , according to legend , derived from splinters of the Staff used by Joseph or Jesus and struck in the ground ,where they rooted ,much like a cutting and grew. Stonehenge is not too far over the border in Wiltshire on Salisbury Plain as Motley Dude rightly points out. Look up the subject of Ley lines and then apply them to Stonehenge, Solsbury hill and Glastonbury tor , may find some interesting results.

The song to me is about PGs departure from Genesis, his becoming a Father and the way forward for him. The break up was not as "nice" as some people perceive, PC came into the group and established himself as a great singer, songwriter and musician quickly becoming the leading light of the band which must have made PG feel awkward as he was always the front man and had built the band up, he made a clean and decisive cut , thankfully his instinct was correct that he would retain a massive following and enjoy solo success. One of his best songs ever along with "Don't give up" and of course "Slegehammer"
