Listen, was that you
Always on?
If and when that's true
Waiting stops
Within moments new
Anchor drops

Breathe easy
The less you have to offer
The less you stand to lose

Think slowly
The more you have invested
The more you care to claim

Dream focused
As often as you've wandered
You carried too much weight

well here is how i interepted thse lyrics yafter paying attention to them the first time

this song definetly seems to be about the use of psychedelic drugs i heard this song and payed attention the first time i ever experienced a trip it seems like it was made to be listened to while tripping and it will explain to you whats going on and relax you and set you into it more so im kind of explaining what the song seems to be able to do to you while using psychedelic drugs

listen was that you always on this is like all these flowing crazy thoughts that are coming is this really me waht the hell is going on and its like the mind just cant shutoff

if and when that's true waitng stops its like you get this understanding of just what is going on and your just in this amazing state and time (waiting) no longer has any meaning

within moments new anchor drops it's like within so little time you are just having so many amazing beautiful thoughts that seem to make sense and everything

breathe easy especially the way he says the words its just like a reminder of what is going on + a soothing relaxing sound

the less you have to offer the less you stand to loose kind of a complicated line to explain but it fits and makes sense with the other lyrics overal

think slowly this is another soothing calming down lyric like before

the more you have invested the more you care to claim maybe this is like the more you have understood how to get into a clear perception from the drug and its practice the more amazing and beautiful and understood it seams

dream focused, as often as you've wandered you carry to much weight kinda hard to put into words again but carrying to much weight is your like holding too many things that seem wrong and to be problems but your mind is fine and really doesnt need to hold them and they are just an illusion

the two lines breathe easy and think slowly its like if you hear how they are said in the stuff on those drugs it would also just calm you let you get a better udnerstanding of what is happening at the moment rather than just twaeking out about crazy thoughts you might be having

also in the very end of the song in a weird random trip type voice it says "door's closing"

this kind of refers to the doors of perception closing and coming down back to reality

Very interesting thoughts behind it. I always just thought their lyrics were just ridiculously vague, but that's what makes it cool because you can think what you want.

The "door's closing" at the end of the song comes from METRA trains in the Chicago area. There's this male voice that comes on that announces your stops coming up and says when the door's closing and such, and seeing as Umph is from the Chi-town area, they have a lotta love for those sounds. Just like the other song on Anchor Drops that says "next stop- Chicago"

It's about dehabilitating anxiety that breeds procrastination (anchor drops).

I know cause I've been living that shit (9 classes) and I just ran seven miles.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
