The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
I've seen some good days
Where bros and I could chill
Without any pressure of payin' 'nother bill
I've seen some good days
But they come and go
Wonder if I could go back
But that's a no
I've seen some good days
Where bros and I could chill
Without any pressure of payin' 'nother bill
I've seen some good days
But they come and go
Wonder if I could go back
But that's a no
Where did all this time go, it all ended so quick
Not so many years ago, I was just another prick
Spilling raps in the park, flowing so slick
Killing beats in my art, I was learning to spit
I'm just sitting these days, and dwelling on the past now
Tryin' to turn my raps into a fuckin cash cow
They call me incredible, I'ma just dash now
I'm a power hungry animal, that you don't wanna clash now like
I've seen some good days
I've seen some good days
I've seen some good days but they come and go
They just come and go like
I've seen some good days
Where bros and I could chill
Without any pressure of payin' 'nother bill
I've seen some good days
But they come and go
Wonder if I could go back
But that's a no
I've seen some good days
Where bros and I could chill
Without any pressure of payin' 'nother bill
I've seen some good days
