Look around your world pretty baby
Is it everything you hoped it'd be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me

Roll to me

Look into your heart pretty baby
Is it aching with some nameless need?
Is there something wrong
And you can't put your finger on it?
Right, then roll to me

And I don't think I have ever seen
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?

So don't try to deny it pretty baby
You've been down so long you can hardly see
When the engine's stalled and it won't stop raining
It's the right time to roll to me
Roll to me
Roll to me

And I don't think I have ever seen
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?

So,
Look around your world pretty baby
Is it everything you hoped it'd be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me...oooh

I never knew it said "The right time to roll to me." I always thought it said, "The right time, the wrong me." I thought it was about a couple that just never got started because whenever it was the right time for one person, it was the wrong time for the other.

Like, he had feelings for her, but she was with the wrong guy. Then she realized that he was the right guy but it was too late because it was the wrong time for him and he wasn't interested.

Damn, JoleeBoli, I know exactly how you feel!!! I SWEAR TO GOD, THE DJ'S DIDN'T KNOW WHO SANG THIS SONG, THEY NEVER EVER SAID THEIR NAME!!!! But thank God, I was able to find the song and get nontheless. Powerful song even if you don't have the brains to think.

I love this song. I think it is so cleverly written and has such an upbeat feel to it :]

A few weeks back, I could totally relate to this song, it was like it was written for me (not intending to sound big headed or whatever in anyway). But, I mean I was with a boy and I hardly saw him. At all. And i cried so many times and it just wasn't what I wanted. It wasn't where I thought I would be.

"Look around your world pretty baby Is it everything you hoped it'd be The wrong guy the wrong situation"

That is exactly how it was. Seriously. And then one of my good friends always used to talk to me about it and always said whenever I needed help, to just come to him.

"And I don't think I have ever seen a soul so in despair So if you want to talk the night through Guess who will be there"

We talked all night once about my situation. And finally, he made me see it would be better for me if I wasn't with him. And it is. I have a new boyfriend, and he is amazing :]]

So, this song doesn't have to be about a boy being in love with a girl, it can be about a best friend trying to make his friend feel better. And see the light. And just be there for her. Amazing. Very clever :]

    xx

This song is so cute! Juice is right, it's so old, but it's really a wonderful love song. Seems to me Del Amitri wanted to portray how the girl's best friend (who appears male) or another close person, is begging her to get involved with him after her other boyfriend has broken her heart. I know quite a few guys who've gone through this, it's a wonderful song, and very true!

Anyone who likes this song. Listen to more Del Amitri! ...please! lol. I think they're the best band I ever heard. Just a few suggestions: "Hatful of Rain", "When you Were Young", "As Soon as the Tide Comes In", "Start With Me".

Del Amitri are a band that only e very small minority will find, but many if they knew of them would like them. They truly are a hidden treasure all the way through their CDs

    My Interpretation

I adore this song! Definitely brings back old memories.

I really do think it's about a guy who is interested in a girl because he specifically says, "the wrong guy, the wrong situation, the right time to roll to me." I mean, by addressing she's with the WRONG guy, it implies he might be the RIGHT guy. I can see it applying to more general situations too, though.

"Look into your heart pretty baby, is it aching with some nameless need? If there's something wrong and you can't put your finger on it, right then, roll with me." These lines really, really hit home with me. You know those moments in life when almost everything is going smoothly, exactly how it should be, yet you aren't quite happy? You should feel incredible yet you are left feeling discontent, as if "the engine's stalled and it won't stop raining."

I think this song is about a girl who is in a relationship that isn't horrible, but she's still unhappy. She views her life as mediocre. The speaker sees this, and he thinks he can be everything she is looking for, and he's willing to be there as both a friend and lover.

Its not really a "Im in love with you" song, it basically is about a friend who realizes another friend is depressed and they are offering thereselves to them to talk to.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
