"Lay Down Sally" as written by and Eric Patrick/levy Clapton....
There is nothing that is wrong
In wanting you to stay here with me.
I know you've got somewhere to go,
But won't you make yourself at home and stay with me?
And don't you ever leave.

Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms.
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon.
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you.

The sun ain't nearly on the rise
And we still got the moon and stars above.
Underneath the velvet skies,
Love is all that matters. Won't you stay with me?
And don't you ever leave.

Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms.
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon.
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you.

I long to see the morning light
Coloring your face so dreamily.
So don't you go and say goodbye,
You can lay your worries down and stay with me.
And don't you ever leave.

Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms.
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon.
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you.

Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms.
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon.
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you.

General CommentBoring? Sorry it doesn't have enough screaming or bass for you. This is Clapton: respect one of the many fathers of rock and roll.

Just plain good, a true classic.

General CommentNow that I look at it, the lyrics would make sense as a kidnapping song. I love songs that sound happy but are really dark, ha!

My InterpretationAre you kidding? These lyrics aren't about kidnapping, and they wouldn't make sense that way. They are about the singer telling Sally how much he loves her, and he doesn't want her to leave (to go to work, say). When he says he doesn't want her to leave, he means both right now, stay with him and forever, be with him. The tone is all wrong for a kidnapping song.

Also: don't be such an asshole, please. Notice that when you post comments on this site, you can "Select Comment Type" and one of the options is "Opinion": your opinion of the song. It's a great song! That's an opinion. Now please be a decent person or get off the damn site.
