"Kiss Your Past Goodbye" as written by Mark Hudson and Steven Tallarico....
Finders keepers losers weep
Down on 42nd street
Bare-foot-children cryin' my-oh-my
I watched you on the avenue
While other men were having you
I think that you should led your caged bird fly

And kiss your past good-bye
Kiss your past good-bye
Kiss your past good-bye
Kiss your past good-bye

I've been so lost I must confess
I've had my share of loneliness
But yeah it's hard to keep a good man down
The loves you lost were all in vain
The past lives on inside your brain
I don't think you need those memories
Hangin' 'round, yeah
Good-bye

Kiss your past good-bye
You've gotta let if fly
Kiss your past good-bye, yeah
And if that bird don't fly away
There's just one thing I got to say
It's later than deuce a ticks
Your broken heart, it needs a fix
You're feedin' off a high that would not last
And people they don't seem to care
And sorry just don't cut it, yeah
It seems to me you're gettin' nowhere fast

So, kiss, your, past
Or kiss your ass good-bye
Kiss your past good-bye
There's no more tears to cry
So kiss your past good-bye
Or kiss your ass good-bye
Yeah

General CommentAfter just getting out of a 2 year relationship, with a situation similar to this one, the meaning of this song could not be cleaer to me.

He was betrayed by someone he put his trust in, hence the line about other men having you on the avenue.

Basically what this song is stating is to rid yourself of the memories. Because there is no chance of getting back together. And dweling on them will only consume you. This is clearly stated by the line "Or kiss your ass goodbye".

He's saying to get over the person, to move on, and not be brought down by the memories that try to push you to go back to the person even though there is no chance of it happening. Either that or you can choose to remember and live in sorrow.

At least that's the message I got from it.

General CommentLet's not judge this song on my phrase. "I watched you on the avenue
While other men were having you" could indicate a prostitute, but this song seems to indicate more a likelihood of heartbreak rather than a hooker.

"Other men were having you" is probably his way to describe a woman that had been unfaithful to him during a relationship instead.

This song has meant different things to me throughout my life, but I believe that Steven Tyler is expressing his heartbreak over a lost relationship and mostly lingers on "The loves you lost were all in vain the past lives on inside your brain " instead.

Dwelling on a situation is unhealthy and unwarranted.

General CommentI believe he is singing to a hooker but I think he is also saying if you put your past behind you and move on things will be alot better then sitting and moaning and stiring in your own shit until u die...Life is about choices and only you can change your future for the better and only you can move on from the past! AeroSmith ROCKS OUT!!

General CommentThis song is about a prostitute hence the lyrics "I saw you on th avenue as other men were having you."

Whether it's about a prostitute or not, the general meaning is to let your past go and move on or else it's going to kill you. This is my favorite Aerosmith song of all time, which is kind of wierd since it's one of their least popular ones.
