"The People That We Love (Speed Kills)" as written by and Gavin Rossdale....
Speed kills
Coming down the mountain
Speed kills
Coming down the street
Speed kills
With the presence of mind and
Speed kills
If you know what I mean

Got to feel
Woke up inside again
Got to feel
Less broke more fixed
Got to feel
When I got outside myself
Got to feel
When I touched your lips

The things we do
To the people that we love
The way we break
If there's something we can't take
Destroy the world
That we took so long to make

We expect her gone
For some time
I wish her safe from harm
To find yourself
In a foreign land
Another refugee
Outsider refugee

How's it feel
Coming up roses
How's it feel
She's coming up sweet
How's it feel
When it's all in spite of you
How's it feel
When she's out of your reach

The things we do
To the people that we love
The way we break
If there's something in the way
Destroy the world
That we took so long to make

We expect her gone
For some time
I wish her safe from harm
To find yourself
In a foreign land
Another refugee
Outsider refugee

What happened to you? (x4)

The things we do
To the people that we love
The way we break
If there's something we can't take
Destroy the world
That we took so long to make

The things we do
To the people that we love (x3)
The things we do
To the people that we
That we love

General CommentThis song has very coincidental lyrics if what I heard is true. I heard that the name changed from 'speed kills' to 'the people that we love' on September 11. Read the lyrics and see! I love this song!

General CommentI love this song! The album is very good...but I don't know if it beats Sixteen Stone...that was like, the best album made, ever! What CD can beat one with "Comedown", "Machine Head", "Everything Zen", and "Glycerine" on it?! Good stuff...but, yea, this song and video rock! :)

General Commenti also think that this is a very awesome song. May i recommned that you put this song on right after you wake up, while you are still in bed, and then get up and jam around in your underwear, like they do in movies. Its awesome, trust me

General Commentwell, i think the songs about speed, it was called speed kills. why they changed it after sept. 11th, because its about drugs, idk, they very well could have stuck to their guns and said its just about drugs, and 9/11 wasnt a mass drug overdose day. but idk there was crazy hysteria around the music industry after then.

what i understand from that is how easily feelings can go...or how easy people break up...and we still care for that person and wish her wellbeing...but we can no longer be with them.... i don't see how the rest fits in with that....or how being addicted to meth connects to that....i donno...can anyone explain?
