"Burning Flag" as written by and Marilyn Manson Twiggy Ramirez....
They wanna sell it out, buy it up
And dumb it down
A good god is hard to find
I'll join the crowd that wants to see me dead
Right now I feel I belong for the first time
Multiply your death, divide by sex
Add up the violence and what do you get?
We are all just stars and we're waiting
We are all just scarred and we're hating
We are all just stars on your burning flag

You can point your gun at me
And hope it will go away
But if God was alive
He would hate you anyway

My right wing is flapping
The left wing is grey
Let's hear it for the kids but nothing they say
They gyrate and G-rate on Election Day
We got our ABC's and our F-U-C-K
F-U-C-K
F-U-C-K

Multiply your death, divide by sex
Add up the violence and what do you get?
We are all just stars and we're waiting
We are all just scarred and we're hating
We are all just stars on your burning flag

You can point your gun at me
And hope it will go away
If God was alive
He would hate you anyway

We are all just stars and we're waiting
We are all just scarred and we're hating
We are all just stars on your burning flag
Stars on your burning flag
Stars on your burning flag
Stars on your burning flag
Stars on your burning flag
Stars on your burning flag

General CommentI think this song is about christians and how some of them try and get others to believe what they believe and if they don't, then they hurt the people who don't believe or force them to believe in some way. But if there really is a god, he wouldn't be happy with these people because a good god would want people to be themselves, no matter if they believed in him or not, but "A good god is hard to find" so maybe god really would punish those who don't follow him. This song in my opinion is coming from an athiest's view - "We are all just stars and we're waiting, we are all just scarred and we're hating, we are all just stars on your burning flag"

General Commentok, heres what I THINK:

    "multiply your death
    divide by sex
add all the violence and what do you get?
WE ARE ALL JUST STARS and we're waiting"

It is about the stars (celebrities). The prettiest people do the ugliest things...stardom is all about sex, death, and violence. you just need to be beautiful, not tallented (marilyn manson IS talented AND good looking, so its kinda a two for one deal!)

General Commenti seriously doubt that this song is all about celebrities, I dont think that this album has anything to do with celebs in general, this album is most polictical that Manson ever made.
This song is about us - people of this country that dont realize that US is on the decline.
    Our two paries are fucked.
The election day is what we are waiting for to see the change, but the change never comes.
Its about our spoonfed immediate gratification that we get looking at these fucked up celebrities. Instead of taking hold of our lifes, we live it vicariously through the acting of these scarred individuals that really dont like each other.

General CommentI think it's about terrorism. Fo shizzle.
Waiting for their moment to shine by taking down the UN Embassys.

God's encourage them to accept others, yet to not obey other religions and gods. So they take it the wrong way, and bomb the infidels.

You can point your gun at me
And hope it will go away
    But if god was alive,
    He would hate you anyway.

They believe by merely doing acts which kill so many people, our religious beliefs will just vanish.

If god was alive, he'd hate you anyway.

My InterpretationThis is America disintegrating into a civil war. States are stars on the 'burning flag' of America.

General CommentSong is about the political environment in the United States.

my right wing is flapping - Right wing "conservative" party of the US, spouts alot of rhetoric, "flapping".

the left one is gray - Left wing "progressive" party of the US, claims to be for the people, especially the "minorities". But really just uses them to further their own goals. Hence, gray, not white and shiny as they like to make themselves appear.

"let's hear it for the kids but
nothing they say" - Politicians of both wings constantly claim to be "working for the children", but it's nothing but a ploy to get more votes. Nothing is ever actually done to improve the public schools, etc. This is quite visible in many of the comments on this site.

    they gyrate and G-rate
    on Election Day
we got our ABC's and our F U C K - The kids don't care about the election, they've passed their standardized tests set before them by the politicians and have achieved their goal. When the bar is set that low, nothing but letting the government lead you like a shepard remains. - Alternatively, it could again be relating to the way the politicians splay themselves infront of the masses like great whores for votes on election day. The ABC, and F U C K being spelled out the way it is could be a reference to the massive amount of acronyms the politicians and government like to sling around.
