"Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" as written by Desmond Child, Joe Perry and Steven Tyler....
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady

Cruised into a bar on the shore
Her picture on the door
She a long lost love at first bite
Baby, maybe you're wrong
But you know it's all right, that's right

Back stage we're having the time
Of our lives until somebody says
"Forgive me if I seem out of line"
Then she whipped out a gun
Tried to blow me away

Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady

So never judge a book by its cover
Or who you gonna love by your lover
Love put me wise to her love in disguise
She had the body of a Venus
Lord, imagine my surprise

Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady

(Baby let me follow you down)
Let me take a peek dear
(Baby let me follow you down)
Do me, do me, do me all night
(Baby let me follow you down)
Turn the other cheek dear
(Baby let me follow you down)
Do me, do me, do me, sue me

What a funky lady
Oh, she like it, like it, like it, like it
Oh, he was a lady

Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady
Dude looks like a lady

General CommentThe song, which originally started out as "Cruisin' for a Lady", talks about a male with an effeminate appearance who is mistaken for a female. There is a story that the song was inspired by the glam look of the members of Mötley Crüe and their constant usage of the word "dude". Steven Tyler says in the book Walk This Way: The Autobiography of Aerosmith, "Then one day we met Mötley Crüe, and they're all going, 'Dude!' Dude this and Dude that, everything was Dude. 'Dude (Looks Like a Lady)' came out of that session."

Joe Perry came up with the chorus riff, and Tyler came up with the chorus refrain.

In his recent book, The Heroin Diaries, Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe claims that the song was specifically inspired by Vince Neil, singer with Mötley Crüe.

General CommentHe hooked up with a gender-bender thinking it was a woman. She "whiped out her gun", much to his surrpise. It's really quite funny how Aerosmith makes light of this kind of thing :).

General CommentHa ha Bret Michaels! Poison was the band that made hair bands passe - after them, people were going "you know, I don't think that spending too much time primping my long hair and producing this overslick so-called rock music is so cool anymore." That being said, I like Poison sometimes, that is to say, whenever I hear it on the radio and thankfully not more often than that.

Well anyway I think this song is actually titled Dude (Looks Like a Lady). I like to pick on small details like that.

My InterpretationI went into a bar "cruising" for casual sex
And encountered a person who was somewhat of a local celebrity, since their picture was prominently displayed by the door
Immediately I lusted for this person
I have heard lust is a sin, but I don't care
(this won't be the first time I've done something like this)

The attraction was mutual, so we started
to fool around backstage at the bar
Before I had the chance to get to third base,
he exposed himself and tried to ejaculate on me

So now I never know whether I'm about to bed a man or a woman
Considering I don't take the time to get to know them
    Beyond their physical appearance
But I will certainly check next time

Nevertheless, with this person I was already turned on
So we might as well go somewhere to finish having sex
Turn the other cheek, so I can get my pleasure too
This could go on all night

General CommentI love this song. I first heard it in the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" where Robin WIlliams was dancing with that broom stick. It rocked so much! And it complimented the movie quite nicely. :o)
