with everyone around us singing la la we slid out of their view
then you thought you heard me singing la la but I don¹t have the strength to

and from the moment that i give out we begin to live out
scenes from all romantic prose while tethered to the roles
or what was meant disguised as sentiment could hang
misunderstood and left unanswered

your eyes tell me i have what i wanted haunted as i hold you
nervous slacking with the lacking heartache no heartbreak when i told you

and though i never did surrender could you please remember
if and when we meet again we once were more than friends
embarrassed me but would you share a scene and kiss me
one last time before i leave you

and though i won't surrender i want you to remember
if and when we meet again we'll still be more than friends
grant me this it could seem frivolous, but kiss me
one last time before i leave you

you've got all my loving in a tangle that i could never undo
and you will never hear me singing la la
i guess la la means i love you

what the fuck are you talking about Kat82386? anyway... i think this is talking about an ex, and wanting them back, and hoping they remember you... my two cents on the issue.

Where in the hell did that shit from Kat come from? Wow.

Anyhow. Good song. Definitely to do with an ex, but when I try to pin down any specific meaning, it just seems all jumbled and complex. But, I suppose that's just the nature of the song's reflection on this relationship: a mash of roles, expectations, heartbreak, and all that other good stuff.

This song is about nothing more than a crappy relationship...he says "you thought you heard me singing lala but i dont have the strength to" its because the fire is gone, hes not going to give an empty "yea love you too" to someone he doesnt. he's tired and he's bored...

"from the moment that i give out we begin to live out scenes from all romantic prose while tethered to the roles or what was meant disguised as sentiment could hang misunderstood and left unanswered" Basicaly as soon as he put out it was like shakespeare he couldn't escape. drama, over reacting, as the more he tries to fix it is the more drama she brings because she doesnt understand what he's doing and he doesnt understand how to make things better. He eventually goes on to saying "im not gonna back down i am leaving you, but grant me that one last kiss for the role you've been playing, grant me that last kiss to appease the both of us" she's just got him so disoriented that he wants to escape her but yet he wants her to stick close by and they'll always be more than friends "if and when we meet again we'll still be more than friends" which means he still has something for her but would never pursue it more than what they just had. Since she'll never hear him singing lala he will never actually "love" her.

I just love at the end the constant "lala..lala...lala" kinda like a slap in the face for her

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
