"She Said" as written by and Ed Roland....
She said that time is unfair
To a woman her age
Now that wisdom has come
Everything else fades
She said she realizes
She's seen her better days
She said she can't look back
To her days of youth
What she thought were lies
She later found was truth
She said her daddy had dreams
But he drank them away
And her mother's to blame
For the way she is today
Life's river shall rise
She said
And only the strong shall survive
She said
But I'm feeling quite weak
She said
Will you comfort and forgive me
She said
She said she's still searching
For salvation's light
She said she wishes all day
And she prays all night
She said she won't speak of love
Because love she's never known
She said it's moments like these
She hates to be alone
Forgive me
She said
Forgive me
She said

General CommentGreat song. Great song! One of my favorite Soul songs, definetly unknown. From the Scream 2 soundtrack (which is pretty damn good actually!)

General Commentthis is a great song. I am amazed no1 has written anythng about it. to me the meaning is as follows: about a middle aged woman who feels life has just passed her by wthout any of her dreams of youth being attained.

General CommentAlways favourite of mine :).
This has always reminded me of a woman I knew- she had an affair and totally destroyed her family, for the simple buzz of excitement, of feeling wanted.
Now she tries to get her daughter to understand why she did the things she did, and even though she knows that nobody can possibly trust her, at least they know that she knows she won't make it without them.

General CommentActually it's a secret song on Dosage but it's popularity transformed it into its own song. Friend showed me up with that knowledge one night... that bastard...

General CommentTrue JLC, it is a secret song, but the Scream 2 soundtrack came out 2 years before Dosage, didn't it? Hopefully you'll check this and maybe shed some light, I love this song sooo much.

General CommentYou're right Foundation. The Scream 2 soundtrack came out in 1997, while Dosage came out in 1999. Thanks for the correction! I'll be sure to rub it in next time I see my buddy. I love the song too!

General CommentIt's about a woman who is getting older and regrets the way she spent her early years. She is lonely and looking possibly for God "still searching for salvation's light", or maybe just someone she can love and spend time with "but i'm feeling quite weak, will you comfort and forgive me". Collective Soul lyrics speak often of faith and God so it wouldn't surprise me if this is what the song is about.
