'm not native English, but I'll try to describe what I think about this lyrics.

Merucy Rev's previous album was commercial failure. I feel that „Holes” reffers to that situation and in this song we have a great description of the song-writing process.

„Time, all the long red lines, that take control, of all th smoke-like streams that flow into your dreams, that big blue open sea, that can't be crossed, that can't be climbed, just born between, oh the two white lines, distant gods and faded signs, of all those blinking lites, you had to pick the one tonight...”

Danahue and his band were writing for some record label. These verses illustrate me the vision, that talented person, which have a potential to write beautiful lyrics and music (open sea and etc symbolise such person's mind) must create something under some deadline pressure. Maybe doesn't have a creative vein this night, but decided to choose one of his faded ideas and work on it.

„Holes, dug by little moles, angry jealous spies, got telephones for eyes, come to you as friends, „

I associate these verses with the workers of the recor label or sime other people who the artist podlega on. They demotivate him, they have no empathy to his work, just disturb with their deadlines, which dziurawią pomysły. They cannot make up anything on their own so the author suspects that they are motivated by jealousy, it's all hidden under the posture „we want good for you”.

„all those endless ends, that can't be Tied, oh they make me laugh, an' always make me Cry, til they drop like flies, an' sink like polished Stones, of all the stones i throw, how does that old song go how does that old song go. „

It's obvious here, that the author writes about the creating process. So many ideas couldnt be completed, so many good projects failed, rthough they wese so well prepared. The author feels that's pathethic and sad so he's ashamed. He tried to throw his ideas, but they all downed and his previous polished album had so too.

„Bands, those funny little plans, that never work quite right.”

High ambitions, potential in music business, but sometimes our expectations meets the wall.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
