If there's a prize for rotten judgement
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that

Who d'you think you're kidding?
He's the earth and heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden
Honey, we can see right through you
Girl, you can't conceal it
We know how you're feeling
Who you thinking of

No chance, no way, I won't say it, no, no
(You swoon, you sigh ,why deny it? Oh-oh)
It's too cliche, I won't say I'm in love
I thought my heart had learned its lesson
It feels so good when you start out
My head is screaming, "Get a grip, girl"
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out

Girl, you can't deny it
Who you are is how you're feeling
Baby, we're not buying
Hon, we saw you hit the ceiling
Face it like a grown-up
When you gonna own up that you got, got, got, it bad?

No chance, no way, I won't say it, no, no
(Give up, give in, check the grin, you're in love)
This scene won't play, I won't say I'm in love
(We'll do it until you admit you're in love)
You're way off base, I won't say it
Get off my case, I won't say it
(Girl, don't be proud, it's okay, you're in love)
At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love

this song is me right now. i went through a terrible relationship and only recently just got over it, even though it's been maybe six or seven months. now i'm on the brink of a new one, and i just don't want to say i'm in love for fear of getting hurt again. i walk on eggshells all the time.

funny how a disney song describes your emotions so well.

Once bitten, twice shy is what this song is about. My favourite Disney heroine song because it's not a typical "I'm in love it's so wonderful", it's about someone who has been burned and is afraid to take the risk again. A very human song.

How come disney songs always make songs adults can relate too? It's kid friendly but it touches the soul.

though disney, any person whose been in some relationship, gotten hurt and afraid to get into another one, can very well relate to this. "It's too cliche" and "Been there done that" proves my point. I think the first line describes how most everyone (or is it just me?) at one point makes a mistake in thinking someone's perfect, and ending up with a bad match.

This song is me right now. I had a crush on a boy that didn't like me but now I have a wonderful boyfriend. I won't say I'm in love because I'm afraid of getting hurt once again.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
