The frost hits me in the eye
and wakes me
these are blury winters
and I cannot see

I walk into the white light of the snow
when the sun comes
I break it with my shadow
which tells me where I go

The frost hits me in the eye
and wakes me

Iam the snow falling down on you
I tear up your face with my frost
And make you run to somewhere warm
when I come I see you get away
I burst out about your emptyness

The frost hits me in the eye...

General CommentI've been sort of obsessed with this song. The guitars and keyboards are the standout in this; simple but effective. It seems to me that this song is about someone trying to find some sort of meaning in life, though I could be wrong

General CommentThe person may be lost in life, as indicated by the lyrics of not being able to see in the 'blurry winters'. There is the theme of possibly/finally not being alone, but the person runs away? Hard to really say.

General CommentI love this song too. Hmm, I think it's about how somebody has woken to the harsh reality. Life is pretty unclear and getting down and cold. but you want it to stay that way because you don't want to be shallow or null or betraying. Other people, as most others, are too shallow to question and try to see what is beneath the many layers of snow (hardships of life). That's why deep people get pissed off at the general population. Deep people are seen as cold people in some way or another. They make people think of their hardships and stuff they haven't dealt with. Another thing is that people destroy any happiness they have because of what they do as an afterproduct (the shadow). This can be taken as abusing your priviledges and then losing them. The shadow (your fate) is controlling you. So I totally relate to this awesome song. It rox!

General CommentIt is in songs like this that you can see how powerful Anneke's voice can be. She can sing through the heavy sound!

Song MeaningThis song is like a lot of Anneke's lyrics: simple yet poetic and quite beautiful. I have not listened to them much in the last few years, but bought Nighttime Birds when it came out around '97.
This song is about the Inuit people, if I remember correctly. Blessings
