"Over Your Shoulder" as written by and Jason Ross....
There's a mark on my back
From my last heart attack
A whiskeymouthbottleneckcardstack

There's a source, of course,
She says: It's whispering at night
Like air leaks from a tire
The truth outruns your lies (life)

If you jump track, thinkin' it's over
Sooner or later it's over your shoulder

I've got a bigmechanicmouth
It resonates with sound
A forkedmetallictongue
It's green with what it's found

Spin my head around
For a different view
You can't look straight ahead
To see what's in front of you

If you jump track, thinkin' it's over
Sooner or later it's over your shoulder

General CommentOh come on! No ones made a comment on this song yet. I absolutely love this song, it's been my favorate song for like 6 years. This song isnt too hard to interpret and if I've done it right then it has a great message which just makes me like the song even more.

Basically what I got out of it was, if you fuck up, or get fucked up somehow, dont be irrational. Don't do anything stupid, and dont commit suicide. There's no reason to get depressed or throw a fit about it because sooner or later, its going to be over your shoulder.

I've liked this song since I was 9 years old. And it still sticks with me. It's powerful shit. :)

General CommentYeah I just rediscovered this song after about 10 years, as I've gotten more interested in the rest of 7M3's music since American Standard. A lot of their lyrics are opaque and not easy to interpret definitively. I don't think this song is about suicide. I believe it's more about just losing control of yourself in general and "acting out" foolishly. One question: what's up with the words slammed together in several places? Is that how it's written in the album jacket, or just typos?

General CommentYeah, this song is incredible, and probably carries one of the strongest and most thoughful messages that I have ever seen in a song. Firstly, I'd say the other comments are pretty accurate. I wouldn't necessarily say that the song is referring to suicide. I think it's simple reassurance that when the going gets tough, and it doesn't seem like there is an end in sight, to just relax and remember that pretty soon, it will all be behind you.

I also really love the line, "You can't look straight ahead, to see what's in front of you." Alot of times, when you are going through a difficult time, you tend to want to see the light at the end of the tunnel immediately, for reassurance that you are going to be out of this mess, but the song lets you know that it's not always that easy, and sometimes, you just have to let life run its course and have faith that everything is going to work out.

General CommentI really like this song musically, but the chorus is a little bland and much of the verses seems like nonsense, especially the jumbled-together words (even if taken individually). Anyone have insight to offer on "whiskeymouthbottleneckcardstack", etc?
