To begin but not complete
To sleep but not to wake
To always be lost and
Never find the way
No thoughts or memory
No hope or tragedy

A mirror waits for a
Reflection of a face
To hit the ground and know
The sound
Trial by mistake
Death's a crown we wear
Around
Like a smile on a face

They will never hate or
Lie
They will never break or
Try
They will never break or
Cry
They will never wave
Goodbye

A silence that would not
Break
The loss of a face
The face of a woman that
Arrived much too late
I break down and she sees
The clowns
I used to hide away
Death to clowns all their
Crowns
And the smiles on their
Face

They will never break or
Try
They will never hate or
Lie
They will never say or
Smile
They will never break or
Cry

Neenah Menasha will wait
Neenah Menasha . Neenah
Menasha
Will wait

I break down and she sees
The clowns
I used to hide away
Death to clowns and all
Their crowns
And the smiles on their
Face
They will never hate or
Lie
They will never break or
Try
They will never break or
Cry
They will never wave
Goodbye

They are Indian words. Used together they mean "water takes it away". If that is the meaning they were going for, I assume that "neenah menasha will wait" means that the cleansing of his failures from his life will have to wait.

    My Interpretation

I found this on you tube in reference to the Neenah Menasha video on you tube:

Strangely this video appears to have been filmed under the sewer drainage system of the roads near the gangster Al Capone's vacation brothel town of Fox Lake, Illinois. Recently Mayor Donny Schmit went on an under cover investigation of all things mystical to determine the true nature of the spirits that haunt the citizens of this town. Of course our quest began from a citizen complaint of loud and peculiar noises resembling music from under a sewer drain man hole cover on Riverview Avenue near Lakefront park. The three of us Mayor Schmit, Officer Ostertag of the Fox Lake Police Department, and myself venture forth to discover what locals call "The Vanishing Currency Portal" of the Change Machine. All I know is that the smell of pumpernickel that night as one by one the Mayor and then Officer Ostertag suddenly disappeared from the asphalt roadways. Instinctively I knew to check for "signs" and there they were snakes halted upon the asphalt near the manhole covers marked in what appeared to be a heavy iron die casting. NEENAH WISC. I read as those snakes slithered into the words themselves. I wonder to this day is Mayor Schmit and Officer Ostertag transformed into those snakes of were the snakes an indication that both of them went under the asphalt via the manhole cover thereby disturbing the snakes. Certainly the snakes themselves were not disturbed by the music. To this day I wonder what happened of the Mayor and Officer Ostertag. I suspect they are still down below plotting some form of adversity for currency and profit. All I have left these brave souls is a pair of glasses made in Brillion. They seem to have the power to look into the heart of Lions to see even more.

    here's the video's URL youtube.com/watch

Anyways, not sure if that really has anything to with the song but it's coincidental or maybe there's some interesting tie...also if you watch the video it does appear interestingly enough that lead singer Vinnie is making snake like motions with his hands as he sings, I picked that up but it's likely nothing. The video does appear to be shot in a under a sewer drain or just somewhere underground and dark.

but another you tube person commented some much more simple theory The song was written about looking for the Neenah Menasha highway exit (in Wisconsin) when they were driving around on tour.

Neenah and Menasha are sister cities in Wisconsin (Fox Valley) but I have yet to see why this song is named Neenah Menasha. The reasoning behind the names must go deeper than two towns.

    My Interpretation

Well if they are sister cities they remain joined together in some matter or form because of this so it's about a bond that will not break, through all life's tragedies the towns are a representative of that often unexplainable or describable union or bond, that some people feel but can't describe to someone or some place. I love this song & album.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
