"Brothers Unaware" as written by Edward Joel Kowalczyk, Chad David Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Alan Gracey....

so many people

I know only a few

yes I may say that I love this man

and that man

but what keeps me from loving you?

date of birth geography

the color of my skin ideology

you got ten fingers two legs one nose

like me

just like me

and it's as simple as that

you see

and if I don't know who to love

I love them all

and if I don't know who to trust

I trust them all

and if I don't know who to kill

I may kill myself instead

from the mouth of a baby

will come the world-saving words

that will save us all

and from the lungs of a child

will come the everlasting breath of god

increasing peace and honesty

and not carrying on despite of me

don't you know

this ain't about no race, no creed

no race, no creed

and it's as simple as that

you see

and if I don't know who to love

I love them all

and if I don't know who to trust

I trust them all

and if I don't know who to kill

no suicide

I'm already dead

General CommentThis is Ed saying that if you have no trust or love in anybody in this world than there is no point in living. "Mental Jewelery" is a CD that you need to listen to a few times to appriciate it. This is, lyrically, my second favorite Live CD after "The Distance To Here"

General CommentEasily my favorite +LIVE+ song - it's just amazing...as InstantKarma mentioned "Mental Jewelry" is one of those CD's you need to listen to a few times to really appreciate it...and it's easily in my favorite 3 CD's on time. Simply amazing - Live are just awsome full stop. "Pain Lies On The Riverside" and "Mother Earth Is A Vicious Crowd" are my other 2 favorite songs from it! YYEEWW!

General CommentI listened to this last night for the first time in a long time and I don't care to interpret anything but I think this song is ok, the bridge is awesome and the chorus is pretty cool but I don't really like the beginning or the verses. It also seems to drag on but it's alright so 2 out of 5 stars is my rating. But maybe I just haven't heard it enough.

My InterpretationWe are all siblings. Related by the soul. It is simple. To hate a man is to hate your brother. To hate a woman, your sister. To kill another, is to kill yourself. But to love? To love someone is to say that you understand this simple truth. We are here to be one, greater than each part and yet each part important and to be cherished.
