"Red Letter Day" as written by Leonard Ahlstrom and Eddie Carswell....
You've got some nerve I never knew
What with the world we gave away in front of you
I see it all much clearer now
You're just a phase
I've gotten over anyhow

It's over
I'm not giving in again

We're loyal like brothers
Just us versus all the others
You the one for, you the one for me

I trusted misleading promises worth repeating
How could you do this to me?

Red letter day that I learned
I'm sure you'll get what you deserve
I see it all much clearer since
Far past the point of this

It's over
We're loyal like brothers
Just us versus all the others
You the one for, you the one for me

I trusted misleading promises worth repeating
How could you do this?
How could you do this to me?

And if it's a lie
I don't want to be the one who signed
I'm not the one who falls down
It's over now

If you want to try
Try to forget it
I'll say it's over, I'm gone

We're loyal like brothers
Just us versus all the others
You the one for, you the one for me

I trusted misleading promises worth repeating
How could you do this?
How could you do this?
How could you do this to me?

General CommentIt could be about a boy and a girl. "We're loyal like brothers" doesn't necessarily mean that they're both boys. It's LIKE brothers, so that means that they're very loyal. But the girl betrayed him and all. Red Letter Day is a happy day. It could mean that he is happy now that he realized something and he could move on. But that's just my opinion and all of your meanings can be true! There is no right or wrong answer regarding your point of view.

General CommentMelodic, emotional, and vague. sounds like a get up kids song. This could be describing a number of different situations via song. Red-Letter is an adjective meaning memorably happy. This song has little to do with happiness, which is a pleasant quirk: happy song, sad lyrics. This is one of my favorite songs by the get up kids.

General CommentThis just my own feelings of the song, but after watching the video (which by the way, really fits the song well), I believe this song is sung to a former g/f, and he's realizing that he's not gonna let this get him down, no matter what...hence "red letter day"...It just adds up with "I'm not the one who falls down" and "I'm sure YOU get what you deserve". kind of a self "builder-upper"...but anyways, that's just what this means to me! =) Laterz....

General CommentHence my name. This song is like my...mantra. A good friend of mine, backstabbed me three times with three different ex`s ive had. Then he told me that he held no remorse when told him that it hurt me. Then said i needed to get over myself. It was a red letter day i learned that he was nothing.

General CommentTo me, its about a record company. If it's a lie, I don't want to be the one who signed.

General Commentok kristen is just an ass for thinking that i'm sorry, but how could u get a record company out of that song. when it's talking about signing that is signing the letter, not a record deal. geez!

General CommentActually, i think the "If it's a lie, I don't want to be the one who signed" lyric could be taken however you want it. For me, I took it as if the girl lied to him and he doesn't want to be the one who believed it (cause he's not the one who falls down....), not as an actual signing of a record deal or a letter. I dunno, just my thoughts- I love this song.

General CommentMy favorite GetUp kids song.. ahh.. I think it is about a relationship and the "If it's a lie, I don't want to be the one who signed" could work for it because getting into a relationship is like signing a contract and he is saying if the relationships a lie, he doesnt want to be in it.. maybe? thats just my opinion.
