My head won't leave me crying
And I lay this one
She won't give me happy
As I lie here alone
My own will give you baby

Call again
Let me be the number
You lead me away again
It was anything I need to
Find my way through this sand (?)
My baby lead my head away
And calling by my head.

Boy
When you away we go
Sending me crawling back over
And crawl back to say

My head, my head won't rely
On the troubles today
And my leave my head in worry
Like the summer rolls
My own won't leave me happy
Don't make me give it back
And on we will go

And have you called me there way before
And I leave this song with you
Feeling colder
than I ever have
She won't be my lady
And some of you fall

And I give you happy
Fools you know
My mind is wide and away
And for well it's gone
And only leave me happy
You wouldn't make me fall

And when we call
Maybe, baby say
And you call
I don't know again
Say too much...

Daves sound guy named this song. If dave and the boys cant come up with a title, he'll turn to his sound guy and if the sound guy cant come up with a name...then they just name it a number (i.e #34, 40, 41)

few different versions to this song....I always believed it started off as, "It won't be long but while we wait, our feelings go away.."

    here are the 3-23-93 lyrics:

i wont be so what will we wait and our reasons so away then we crawl out of our holes into the open air it takes us so long we cry away and corners they may fail i dont know what i see but i know its not fair baby say you love me i dont believe her waiting whether anyone would you call me up and say a lie so sad take me to come again and now im watching by and its hauling to the old way down we swing our hands and hope that everyone comes back i dont believe you saying i dont believe what youre doing here you tell me good intentions watch you hang from your tree i dont believe what you said and walking by my door i find all these smiling faces locked up and tied over rhythm of an old song i heard wild and freedom sail away again memories fall hey we feel so cold i never thought it was cool winter day not to buy by the head down low i say this wont tear me out that could do it for a week or more then be waiting by i dont care no matter what i want anyone to pour their soul out an open page crushed by a memory so my happiness fell away and tore my mind and darkness fell

Yes, this is an incredible song. But, Traumattizing, it's not like that. It's not like when Dave cant come up with a name he just goes to the sound guy, and if the sound gay cant come up with one it'll just be a number...that's not even close to being right, and i dont know where you even got that from. Anyways, great song.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
