"Try Again" as written by Christopher Bell and Alex Chilton....
Lord I've been trying to be what I should
Lord I've been trying to do what I could
But each time it gets a little harder
I feel the pain
But I'll try again

Lord I've been trying to be understood
And Lord I've been trying to do as you would
But each time it gets a little harder
I feel the pain
But I'll try again

General CommentThis is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. Chris Bell had an ability to take depression and absolutely transform it into music, through his words, his voice and song-writing, quite unlike anyone else I've heard. He bleeds his emotion through every pore without ever once being overbearing, without any cheap tricks, so effortlessly.

Sad sad sad sad sad song.

My InterpretationFrom what I understand, Bell was raised Christian, which probably provided a lot of tensions with his drug problems and sexual orientation. I'd imagine the song is a literal plea to God.
