"Mind Over Money" as written by and Oliver/paridjanian Knights....
Mind over money bent over backwards
Light up my life like a very last cigarette
Time after time dear we will just lie here
Staring at ceilings it doesn? really matter where we are

Wearing a smile like its going out of style
Look at your self, there's nothing in there
Just put points on a grave stone
Can you see yourself sinking
Staring at ceilings it doesn't really matter where you are

That's alright I warned myself
keep blood on the inside and nowhere else
up on a shelf that? where I need to be
la da da dee

I need to get Something
I can't sleep for red eye
Internal combustion can that really happen?
I take it back yeah whatever I did yeah I didn't mean it
I was only joking

But what does this matter in the grand scheming sky
All that I multiply adds up to nothing

that's alright I warned myself
keep blood on the inside and nowhere else
up on a shelf that's where I need to be
la da da dee

General CommentIt could be about an affair with a prostitute.. That would explain the 'mind over money' and the fact that there's 'nothing in there'.. It's just business for her, without any love or romance. The 'light up my life like a very last cigarette' is about the guy, I guess he's lonely and enjoys her company and although he wants to quit it, he's addicted to her (telling himself over and over that it's the last time they meet, but it never is). 'Staring at ceilings, it doesn't really matter were we are' would then be about the places they meet.. Probably cheap hotels.

While all this is happening, the guy worries about it all.. He's worried about her businesslike approach and about his own loneliness. He thinks he's got it all under control, but he feels bad about it all. And at the end of the song you can hear a door.. Sort of like she's leaving him behind.

General Commentamazing lyrics, imagery and especially tune. this is sung with so much emotion. i especially love the lines "light up my life like a very last cigarette" and "keep blood on the inside and nowhere else"... references to suicide/self harm? if anyone knows the meaning of this song please interpret for me.

General CommentThis song really is a very negative take on the love song, it seems like the first verse is about being in love with somebody and just being content with their company and nothing else, saying how she "lights up my life like a very last cigarette" but by the end its very different, he says "look at yourself, theres nothing in there".
it also seems like the line "I take it back yeah whatever I did yeah I didn’t mean it" is very mocking and throwaway, although ironic because its sung in such a serious way
I think its just a song about a relationship that isn't going anywhere and has left him frustrated and angry

General CommentThe video for the song sees the two members playing guitar in a wooded area. The sun rises and, as it hits them, they disintegrate ("Internal combustion can that really happen?"). This and the grave stone and blood references, give the song a 'vampire' feel.
So, I see the song as regret after achieving something which didn't turn out to be as expected. Not quite sure how to relate that to the title, though.

General CommentOohh re-reading it now, the bit about 'I take it back yeah, whatever I did yeah, I didn't mean it; I was only joking', that could be him apologizing when he accidentaly told her that he loved her or something like that. Which would explain why she would be leaving the hotel.

The blood could indeed be a reference to suicide/self-harm, because he feels that bad about the whole thing. First because he doesn't want to feel what he feels (love for the woman) and then because he's told about his feelings and she left..
