"He Turns Down" as written by and Marshall Cat Power....
Have you ever seen the face
You know the one I'm talking about
Have you ever been to that place
You know I'm not supposed to say

Have you ever seen the face
You know the one I'm talking about
Have you ever been to that place
You know the one I'm not supposed to say

Holding on for something have you ever held on
Holding on for someone
Feels like holding on too long
Have you ever held on

It's not me I am pretending
I'm not saved he turned me down
He turns down

It is so nice to meet you
Who's gonna look at for you
It's not me, I am pretending
I'm not saved he turned me down
He turns down

Have you ever seen the face
You know the one I'm talking about
Have you ever been to that place
You know the one I'm not supposed to say

Holding on for something
Have you ever held on
Holding on for someone
Feels like holding on too long
Have you ever held on

It's not me I am pretending
I'm not saved he turned me down
He turns down

General Commentat my downfall this song was my ballad.
"its not me, i was pretending"
so haunting in such a subtile way.
with a lost will, this song felt seemingly perfect.

General Commenti never thought that it was about jesus or god, but it makes TONS of sense, misera.

General CommentI think it's about holding out for someone, waiting for someone and them letting you down. It could be God, yes.

General Commentyeah i saw it as being about God too, and so i saw it to be very sad because she feels her relationship with Him is over and has no way of being existent again. that's just really sad to me because it's rarely the case when people believe it to be so. God forgives. God loves. He doesn't turn people down unless they turn Him down.

General CommentThis is the first time I've read these lyrics. I always thought it was "I'm not saying he turned me down" instead of "I'm not saved, he turned me down" which obviously changes the meaning dramatically. I kind of like it better the way I misheard it. It's impossible to be turned down by Jesus.
