"I Burn For You" as written by and Gordon Matthew Sumner....
Now that I have found you
In the coolth of your evening smile
The shade of your parasol
And your love flows through me
Though I drink at your pool
I burn for you
I burn for

You and I are lovers
And nighttime falls around our bed
In peace we sleep entwined
And your love flows through me
Though an ocean soothes my head
I burn for you
I burn for you

Stars will fall from dark skies
As ancient rocks are turning
Quiet fills the room
And your love flows through me
Though I lie here so still
I burn for you
I burn for you
I burn

General CommentDon't forget, this song was written for Brimstone And Treacle, a movie where Sting plays a grifter of sorts and this "beautiful" love he's singing about is a sick, perverted sexual obsession with the invalid daughter of the people he's staying with. Without the movie, it's one thing. With the movie . . .

General CommentYes, I agree, in context with the "Brimstone & Treacle" movie the song is really creepy!

However, the song wasn't written for the movie, Sting wrote it while he was still in "Last Exit" (the band he played with before The Police) and I think it was inspired by his first wife, Frances.
Personally, I think the Last Exit demo version of this song is even more haunting than the one he did with The Police. Very atmospheric song!

General CommentAmazing song. I can't believe it was only a b-side. Download it (or buy message in a box), you'll be suprised. Pretty obvious as far as meaning goes. Just a beautiful description of love for another.

General CommentAgree 100%. The bass riff near the end is awesome, and the tribal chanting takes this song up to the next level

    General CommentKerouac

    Tell that sonofabitch student
    This is no party picnic!
    Damn this shit!
    We’s LATE!
And this is the way I come running up late
When he sees me with his cold blue eyes
And says, what the hell you doing
    Getting in here at 7:50?
    You’re twenty goddamn minutes late!
What the hell you think this is?
    Your birthday?
    Light that goddamn fire!
