The plan was to sweep the world off its feet
So you sweep the garage for the neighbours to see
The plan was to set the world on its ear
And I bet you don't know why you're here
Who knew
That avenue was bound for happy town
Happy town
Happy now
Happy town
Actors, authors, artists and thieves
And after the parties where nobody hates
Former strippers and junkies and men of the cloth
And we all fell in line and got lost
Who knew
That avenue was bound for happy town
Happy town
Happy now
Happy town
Happy town
Happy town
Happy town
The plan was to set the world on its ear
And I'm willing to bet you don't last a year
The plan was to set the world on fire
But it rains every day on the line
In happy town
Happy town
Happy town

Repeat

There’s other recovery-related material (The Last) on All Shook Down, so I always interpreted this as being about AA or some type of 12-step program.

    Corrected lines:

    • go to afternoon parties where nobody heaves
    • but it rains everyday on a liar

This album gets slagged a lot. I don’t care whether it’s really a Replacements album or “Paul’s first solo record,” I have always loved it. I hope Paul agrees someday to have it remixed. The drums and some of the added vocal effects are awful but underneath all that it’s a gem.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
