"Dad's Bad News" as written by and Mike Burkett....
Don't believe a word your grandfather says
He's been classified grade A psycotik
You can see it from the hole in his head
A saner man would have used a bigger gun

Degeneration ah ah ah ah ah
The lunatic clause was written for you

The story spoken is the story unheard
By you so listen cause it's unbelievable
A certain trait has passed while centuries turned
This certain trait has been a family tradition

No simple way to tell you son
We share the same red tainted blood
I'm gonna kill me, you're gonna kill you
Killing you

Don't believe a word your grandfather says [Repeat: x3]
He's a psycotik, grade A psycotic

General Commentthis song is about inheriting a mental illness through the family bloodline:

"A certain trait has passed while centuries turned
This certain trait has been a family tradition"

"No simple way to tell you son
We share the same red tainted blood"

    this is simple stuff people.

General Commentits definately about mental illness, and also something to do with hereditery suicide.
"im gonna kill me, your gonna kill you"

also a suggestion/correction on the lyrics:
"This certain trait has been a family tradition"
    sounds more like
"this faulty dna has been a family heirloom"

    nofx rule

General CommentI think that instead of a mental illness that it's about a position or belief political or religious. The person in the song I think comes from a line of people believing something that the new generations believe is crazy. Not actually mentally psychotic but in an abstract way.

I also think that the grandfather may have been a Nazi.

General CommentWow, some people are reading too much into the lyrics for something that's not there ::cough::Davo::cough::

It's about a mental illness (probably depression since people in the family seem to off themselves) running in a family. Pretty cut-and-dry.

I remember reading somewhere that depression ran in Kurt Cobain's family and that he had a grandfather or a few uncles or something who killed themselves. I doubt that was the inspiration for this tune, but I just figured I'd mention it.

General Commenti always thought they should have named this song "sensenone"

i get it but some of the lines are written to purposely not make sense i think haha..
