"New Leaf" as written by and Greg Graffin....
When everybody dies around you, from someone else's gun,
It really makes you stop and think about the years to come.
Something good had to happen to the human race.
We all had better stop hoping and set our heads on straight.

You've gotta turn over a new leaf,
'Cause that old one's turning on you.
We've gotta turn over a new leaf.
If the future's only hoped for, we are doomed.

Today is over, it's already shot, so we can think about ourselves.
They keep on working on our nature, they're saying that can only help.
Start throwing out your pockets, keep what you really only need.
Save life and earth and water, there can't be any other need.

You've gotta turn over a new leaf,
'Cause that old one's turning on you.
You've gotta turn over a new leaf.
If the future's only hoped for, we are doomed.

You've gotta turn over a new leaf,
'Cause that old one's turning on you.
We've gotta turn over a new leaf.
And let your love come on through.
You've gotta turn over a new leaf,
'Cause that old one's turning on you.
We've gotta turn over a new leaf,
A new, a new, a new

General Commenti think this is about the war and violence in the world, but in particular (possibly) America's foreign policy. if they keep up a policy of agression to other countries it is only compounding the problem as the more they try to 'sort' the problems the more righteous terrorists and guerrilla soldiers they are creating that will hate them ('the old one's turning on you') it shows how it is just making problems worse for them and they are getting a taste of their own actions. 'if the future's only hoped for, we are doomed' i think this shows how the aggression is hoped to be overwhelming and will end without too much of a problem.

General CommentI think it's about how things aren't how they should be now but we have to get off our asses and actualy change things because "if the future's only hoped for, we are doomed. "

General CommentThis song is very similar to their song "the Markovian Process"( song not added yet) they're both saying that we can't depend on the luck we have had in the past, finding America and not having to worry about pollution. But we must plan our future or else this world will fade away because the chances of us getting lucky again are slim to none...
