in a time of quietness i reflect on childhood memories
caught wisping through my mind
falling leaves create the stage
words spoken were not cherished on the last day of our friendship
and those words were possibly the last
what were your thoughts as a dreaming child
i awaken to a nightmare after a gentle nudge
i find out you're gone
the machines that kept you alive were careless
did you ask Him to forgive you before you passed on
you slipped away into the ground..
you broke the vanity... you brought the silence ...
(i hope you are with Jesus.)

General Commentsix years ago dan's step brother died in a car accident on dan's little brother's birthday. the song is about how dan took the last conversation they had for granted, how dan took him for granted, and how dan wonders were he will spend the rest of eternity.

General Commentzao is amazing. this is most likely my favorite zao song. zaos music is beautiful as well as punishingly heavy. just close your eyes and let the song form images in your head.

General CommentYes, i agree with all of you, Zao is very beautiful, and wht i dont understand is why people have to critisze them so much, the music is soothing to my ears, i fall asleep to it, the lyrics are just amazing, last night i had a dream about a parade of chaos, hahahaha, i really did....

General CommentYes, Zao's music is absolutely in my opinion, the best i've ever heard.... Like you said, "i fall asleep to it" i can do the same thing, the music isn't screaming after you get used to it. Songs like this are more about meaning and personal relation to the songs. Songs like "Angel Without Wings" mean a lot and their songs go deep. A fall farewell is a good example, it isn't as deep as some of their songs but the way he writes the lyrics its almost poetic and its so capable of explaining his feelings through the lyrics alone that adding his vocals and the rest of the music simply blows you away. Everyone seems to think that this kind of music takes "no talent to do" but in fact doing these vocals is very difficult, if done wrong can damage vocal chors etc. Zao does it so well, this song is so well made, so well expressed. And it means so much to hear words come from someone and knowing i'm not alone in alot of this stuff. Losing friends hurts, and hearing a song like this makes you feel a lot better as well as it makes you think about the whole situation of Dan's.

General Commentawesome input koihoshi man, my parents are like that they think "o its nothing but hard rock" and i say "first of all the term is 'death metal' and its all about Jesus. once you memorize the lyrics like i have done its great. not thats its not good when you dont have the lyrics memorized. and it takes extreme talent to do what he does. i know you've all heard tool to scream, at zero, and the buzzing etc, where he goes way deep and keeps the volume up times 10 and its extremely hard to do that. you have to build up your voice over the years with practice and stuff. so yeah this song is about his desceased brother, its very sad his other brothr commited suicide thats what "to think of you is to treasure an absent memory" is about
