"Before Dishonor" as written by and James Shanahan....
What makes you think everything in this world that you have can be taken away?
In a world this day, it's kill or be killed.
I live each day like it might be my last.
In this lifetime few things are worth fighting for.
My blood. Your honor. Everyone has a destiny.
I'll choose my own.

I will not be a victim.
I'll choose my own.
My cries won't go unheard.
I'll choose my own.
I got to fight for myself.
I'll choose my own.
Of what I hold so true.

I'll choose my own destiny and I'll never let anyone take away what I hold so true.
I won't live in denial.
And I won't turn the other cheek.
I must remain convicted and never accept this suffering.
I've learned from my mistakes and I've made a promise to myself.
I won't live in the past.
I won't live in the past.

I've been affected by your lies and I've let then hold me back.
I wasn't thinking for myself.
I wasn't living for myself.

I will not be a victim.
I'll choose my own.
My cries won't go unheard.
I'll choose my own.
I got to fight for myself.
I'll choose my own.
Of what I hold so true.

What I have in my heart, I'll take to my grave.

General CommentRATM had a good line awhile back; "Anger is a gift." Hatebreed is 100% about individualism: choose your own destiny, reject outside manipulation, and use your anger as motivation to empower yourself.

Most punk and metal artists are like Hollywood actors: they spit the Democratic party line like little fucking braindead parrots. Anger is evil, guns are evil, eat Tofu, save the whales and the fags and the blacks.

Fuck that. Hatebreed is about being true to what's in YOUR heart, not what some douchebag on an album told you to believe.

They don't like gays because most gays are whiny, cowardly, handout-demanding Liberal bitches. It's got nothing to do with homophobia. It's about the Entitlement Complex. If a gay guy came up to Jamey Jasta and said "I'm a fag and I've never demanded a handout or special treatment. I carry my own life. Want to fight?", Jamey would probably shake his hand.

General Commentthis song kicks ass it was the last song they played at the show i went to and made for a great closing song, it realy gets the crowd going, and it has a possitive message, i think anyway, about living in the moment and living your own life, with out regrets.

General CommentIn some versions of this song there is a little opening from some movie??.....

    "You see its not the blood you spill that gets you what you want, its the blood you share;
    your family
    your friendships
    your community,
these are the most valuable things that man can have"

General CommentFuck them, they're stupid homophobics. And fuck that "what I have in my heart I'll take to my grave" shit as well. How come they call themselves ~core while at the same time they say things like "We ain't homophobic 'cause we afraid of fags - (we) just fuckin' hate them!"? Idiots.

General CommentOh, little girl here tries to be hard. Go back to mommy 'cause you seem to have no fuckin' clue of Hardcore. First and most important rule in ~core: Respect! With statements like the one I mentioned, Hatebreed don't show any respect. They said that shit to a band whose name I forgot, do some fuckin' research before you let this crap come outta yer mouth, girl!
