"Birthday Boys" as written by Trey Anastasio and Les Claypool....
Gina knows what it's like to be
On the other side of midnight
Gina's eyes are sensitive
To the brighter side of daylight
She knows what it's like to be
The topic of conversation
While birthday boys are wallowing
In ichors of adulation
I don't mind
If you stand around and look at me tonight
I quite like it
Guys like us are blind
To the dirt that gathers in between
The toes of moderation
Gina knows
You can come around but don't you talk to me
I'm not in the mood for conversation
You can come around
But don't you talk to me
You can come around but don't you talk to me
I'm not in the mood for conversation
You can come around
But don't you talk to me
I don't mind
If you come around and drink up all my wine
Won't be the first time
Sometimes I find
Little treasures hidden deep within my drawers
Gina knows
You can come around but don't you talk to me
I'm not in the mood for conversation
You can come around
But don't you talk to me
You can come around but don't you talk to me
I'm not in the mood for conversation
You can come around
But don't you talk to me
You can come around but don't you talk to me
Gina knows, what it's like to be
I'm not in the mood for conversation
You can come around
But don't you talk to me
Gina knows, what it is to find.

General Commentpersonally, I think it talks about a street whore who's been at the job for so long that shes become numb to any attempt at sugar-coating what shes doing, nothing can surprise her, she just wants her job to be done.

General CommentI've heard 2 stories about this one. In Chicago, Trey said that it was about a girl at Trey and Les' birthday party (Their b-days are a day apart). The rumor mill says that Trey stated that the girl wanted to do drugs off of Trey's private parts. Obviously Trey omitted these details from his public re-telling, but I tend to believe it. This song was originally an instrumental entitled Happiness in my Pants. This fact, coupled with the line "Sometimes I find
Little treasures hidden deep within my drawers" lends some credibility to the rumor. Hilarious.

    General Comment"Gina's eyes are sensitive

--Probably from heavy use of hallucinogens

General CommentI guess the literal translation fits but i thought there was some implied endearment between the two characters in the song the way they relate to each other like they have history, reminds me of like an ex flame someone you would never need to impress that residual understanding that resonates

General Comment"little treasures hidden" ... I would have guess that means he get's hard....

I say it's just an understanding.... they have their roles... and they play them..
The song begins with Gina.... but flows into His experience..

There is no judgment "kinds like us are blind"

Make yourself comfortable.... and let's get started... LOL..
