The Vesta is landing
The Vesta is landing
Without a captain, without a crew
Dead in the hull, tied to the wheel
This ship of death, this ship is filled with rats
You better find your mother
You better look for cover
We make a choice, we make it everyday
To get up in the morning and to bear away
You better find some cover
You better outlive your mother
You better find some cover
This ship of death
This ship has a new captain
This ship is landing
We don't need a doctor
We need a sacrifice
We need a sacrifice
You better hide your babies, until the morning
We make a choice, we make it everyday
To get up in the morning and bear away
You better outlive your mother
You better outlive your mother
You better outlive your mother
Turn up the lampposts, stay out of the shadows
This is a plague like no other
We need a martyr, we need a victim
We need a sacrifice
Pray before sundown, send your children to grandma's
Nail a cross to the door
Bear away

General CommentThere is no reason for me being the first person to make a comment on this song. This song's tone/melody just makes me think of a horror movie. This is a bad a** song by the MCD. Too bad they broke up. I wish I had the chance to see them. Anyway MCD will put you over the top.

General Commentthis song IS about vampires, and specifically dracula. in the novel, he stows himself on a small sailboat to reach england from transylvania. while on the open sea, he kills the crew one by one night after night, then finally kills the captain and lashes him to the helm with a crucifix. the ship lands "without a captain, without a crew" and dracula escapes in the form of a wolf. awesome song.

General Commentyeah this song is sick. i never knew this song was about dracula. that makes this song 100 times sicker now that i know that. i looked up The Vesta on google and it said that it was some ship that crashed with a bunch of fishermen in it. must be a different Vesta.

General CommentThis song is NOT about Vampires. Thats just stupid. Spencer uses the Vesta and alludes to the Dracula story as a parable. Dracula was evil, but he was true to his own nature. The song is really about the underground, misfits, 1%ers, no- accounts, and freaks (or whatever you call 'em). Its about people who live lives by their own rules, regardless of societies opinions and notions. Bear away means that we (the people on the boat) steer clear of and shun society, popular culture and all things considered "normal" by societies' standards. Its a choice. We make it every day.
