"The Last In Line" as written by Vivian Patrick Campbell, Jimmy Bain and Ronnie James Dio....
We're a ship without a storm
Cold without the warm
Light inside the darkness lit at peace

We're a laugh without a tear
Hope without the fear
We are coming home

We're off to the witch
We may never never never come home
But the magic that we'll feel is worth a lifetime

We're all thrown upon the cross
We'll be thrown before the toss
You can release yourself but the only way is down

We don't come alone
We are fire we are stone
We're the hand that writes and quickly moves away

We'll know for the first time
If we're evil or divine
We're the last in line, yeah
We're the last in line

Two eyes from the east
It's the angel of the beast
And the answer lies between all good and bad

We search for the truth
We could die upon the tooth
But the thrill of just the chase is worth the pain

We'll know for the first time
If we're evil or divine
We're the last in line yeah
We're the last in line oh

Yeah

We're off to the witch
We may never never never come home
But the magic that we'll feel is worth a lifetime

We're all thrown upon the cross
We'll be thrown before the toss
You can release yourself but the only way is down

We'll know for the first time
If we're evil or divine
We're the last in line oh
We're the last in line

See how we shine

(We're the last in)
We're the last in line
We're a ship without a storm
We're cold inside the warm
We're the last without a tear
We're the throw without the meal
(We're the last in line)
See how we shine
We're the last in line

General CommentAll right, you guys are all full of garbage. If you've seen the music video you know it's all about a kid that crosses Dio and as such ends up in Dio world. Mother fucker learns his lesson and then Dio lets him go with a warning to the world: Dio is king.

General CommentActally this is what i think. The fall of the elevator means the fall of man from heaven. The underground world it is the world we are living in it with all the games and stuff. And we all try to come home(heaven). And Dio is the savior(Christ i believe). The elevator is like a stairway to heaven:)).

General CommentThis is about good and evil and our search for the truth. We are born good but struggle through the rest of our lives with good and bad. The only way we'll really know if we're evil or divine is when we die and see the two eyes (of either God or Satan). This will be the "first time" we know.

General CommentYeah soundoff has it good i would just say that we are all born with good and bad inside of us. It"S the road that we take that makes the difference. We have the choice of being a killer or not to be.

Just because a person look good on the other side does not mean is it a good person at all. A person could be badly seen and inside be the best person in the world. You just don'T know.

General CommentThe downwards drop of which he speaks... Make that "sings," I believe, is life. A downwards drop is an irreversible process, right? So, we go through this life, without any chance of ever turning back. As we progress through life, our actions determine whether we are "evil or divine."

It's actually quite simple. Just fuck up your internal clock like I have, then log on to Songmeanings at approximately 01:30 AM and read the lyrics, all the while picking at your right eye using your index and/or middle finger, and chugging coffee as if it were water, and you, too, will come to the same conclusion as I have.

    General CommentDamn right.

That should silence all those spiteful bastard critics and journalists I saw on that program dissing Dio. Making fun of THIS song, one of his best.
Most people think Dio's lyrics are rubbish but those people are just looking for a way to put him down.
